absolutely love this design! how did you come up with the idea? who did the design?

could you tell me more about the mosaic/glass art design. what/why is the thought/reason behind the design?

for those who don't get the design.... it's of the clock tower at Parliament Hill Building in Ottawa, Canada, where our government assembles.

overall, I really love this! great work!

Looks fantastic. Two minor thoughts: and one less minor.

  1. You may have tried this, but did you attempt the flag on top of the peace tower with the same F as the rest of the Riff Raff?
  2. Would you consider adding some similar shading to the tower as you have on the roof? It loses a little bit of perspective with the solid black.
  3. The stained glass pattern looks fantastic, however, the green/red/black gives me some pause - those are the same colours as the common denominations, so it could be distracting to the eye counting the pot when it's in the middle. I think you could get away with it as long as you are conscious of how much red/green and black are on any given denomination.

Thanks for the kind words. I did the design myself. I've been playing with a few concepts over the past few months, but this feels right.

Anyone who visits my apartment knows I have a thing for Canadiana, and I live steps away from Parliament Hill. The stained glass is also heavily inspired by the clock of the Peace Tower:

Very unique and I like it very much. The red numbers read a lot easier than the black/gray numbers. I’d for sure just go with one or the other and I’d lean towards the red. You also may want to survey your players and see if anyone is red/green colorblind. It’s more common than you might think and for them the green and red sections will all look the same more or less.

Thanks for the feedback.

1. Yes I tried several iterations, and found what worked best was a relationship to the other letters while also standing apart.
2. Also tried this, and I think a little perspective is worth the sacrifice to keep it as simple as possible. It's already busy enough IMO.
3. Yeah there is some room for play here. Readability is not a huge concern, as we are all veterans who know the denoms. I'm prioritizing style and continuity. I tried changing the colours of the glass to match the edgespots of the chips, but preferred the more simple palette borrowed from the logo side.

Overall, I may be trying to force too many graphical elements at once, and may need to dial it back a bit. The obvious thing to remove would be the suits from the stained glass. That was a happy accident that I'd like to keep, but not if it's too confusing to the eye.

wait what? there are numbers in that stained glass design? please enlighten me.

@RiffRaffRandy so are you a designer? this is really creative and extremely well put together/presented. I would assume you had hired a professional to make your thoughts/ideas for the design into a reality.

Good stuff - just wanted to ask the questions in case you hadn't considered them.

I hadn’t seen the suits at first. Once you see them, the changing of the denom color makes sense. Incredibly clever and impressive. If your guys know the color/denom go with it. Really awesome.

Yeah I didn’t notice the numbers at all until some mentioned it. The design is really cool though

i still don't see it.... this takes me back to those magic eye photos from when i was in grade school.... do we unfocus our eyes or something??
Top right is a red 1. Bottom right is a red 20. The other two are 25 and 5 I believe in grey

Top left black 25 with a red diamond behind
Top right red 1 with a black club behind
Bottom left black 5 red heart
Bottom right red 20 black spade

yeah... i'm confused as fuck.... where are you guys getting the numbers from??

I see:
the top right with the red 1 but I don't see the club
bottom left i see the 5 triangles, but how is that a heart?

i dont see:
top left how do you count 25?? I see the red diamond though
bottom right where is the number 20 coming from and where the heck is the spade?

this set was much more enjoyable as a design earlier this morning but now is causing so much tilt.... :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO::ROFL: :ROFLMAO:

I figured it was a work in progress where only one of the mosaics would be selected and with that mosaic on the back there would be some small denomination clearly labeled in a circle or something.

still love the front label, the stained glass tilts me like mad now. :D

I actually like the first ones better. They are visually appealing as is and they get cooler as you see the denoms and suits. But they are your chips.

I like the logo with the text, a lot. I am not feeling the other ones at all. Very creative, but very hard to look at. The novelty factor will wear out fast. In my opinion this is a bad idea.

I really dig the design, and the update is much easier to distinguish from the originals...it took me a long time to even find the original denoms even after they were pointed out.

I think it would still be best if they could be clearer somehow.

The middle logo with the text is amazing! I don't like the stained glass though. I would not abandon that concept though because it's so cool.

So the black lines on the stained glass were definitely too thick, which wasn't helping. I worked the suits back in, and feel like this is a good balance. Thanks for the great feedback. Please advise if you see something I'm missing.

I'm trying to preserve those triangles, as they not only remind me of Parliament, but also of our iconic centennial logo:

I think working the suits back in makes it a little too busy. I liked your previous red and blank/white design as a base. Choose 4 different bright colours to represent "0", "1", "2", and "5", Use a nice medium to dark colour for the background glass panels. Use two alternating colours for the circular ring.

For example
Light Green 0, Light Blue 1, Yellow 2, Red 5
Medium Blue background
Two Purple shades for the ring

Really cool and creative design! My only suggestion would be to keep the denominations the same colour. My brain spots the reds no problem but then struggles when it changes to black. With such an abstract design, I think the consistency would really help.
