I took a stab at this when it popped up on eBay.

The seller said they got it from Doyle during the WSOP. Not much more information beyond that.

I checked it against other autographs of his and with a little bit of knowledge from my Dad when he did graphoanalysis it's pretty likely to be legit.

The hand is more sure than some later autographs, and the era the chip was from also jives with that as well. The 'backwards' swoop over the top of the "D", coming back across the top and into the loop of the letter is very much like others from Doyle, as is the pen-lift between the y and the l.

I remember reading that Doyle had stopped autographing chips as they were too small to do so adequately on, which makes sense in his latter years which also makes this make more sense as an earlier autograph.

I never had a chance to meet him nor get an autograph for the same reasons. This is about as close to legend as I'll be able to get. Clearly, one degree of separation!
Here are a couple examples I have of Doyle's autograph. The picture I got in person and was probably towards the end of his online site. The card autograph is much more sloppy and you can see he autographed where Chan was supposed to. The card has a date of 2011.

I never met him, but I did see him on his scooter talking with Todd and I want to say maybe Lindgren outside the Amazon room during the WSOP about 15 or so years ago.

I met him at Harrah's Rincon, maybe 25 years ago...

My first ever game at another chipper's place was in Nov 2022, where Ethan graciously let me choose what to felt out of his obnoxiously large collection. I snap-called with Jack Detroit, as they were a favorite of mine (despite y'all RHC haters). They were pretty good to me to say the least. Roughly a month ago I got lucky in obtaining the core of the set of them, and through subsequent trades/acquisitions ended up with my preferred/optimal breakdown (with frac labels and other accessories on the way).

Thanks to all for the help! Feels like a suitable 5000th post:

Where’s my invite?

Murdered RPC 100's that will eventually be Aurora Star $500's once Gear is back from their break.

And the obligatory eBay wsop chips. A full set of these would be my dream set. The Bud Jones years were when I got hooked so these are more desirable to me than the Paulson's.

Hell of a mail day. Made a huge jump in finishing the rack of these shaped inlay $5s. Just 28 more to go…LMK if you have one or more to sell.

Thanks to you know who. Much appreciated.

Also had some other shaped beauties in the package that are destined for a new home soon.

In my quest to build a micro stakes set, I just got these 10 cent Orbit inn chips from the 80’s. I show what they look like when they arrived and the after a bath and oil . Last pics are of the newly completed set.
