I'd like to introduce bomb pots with my group but I'm unsure of the best format to start with, so I'll propose what I'm thinking and ask for feedback. We play 5c/10c with $10 buy-in, usually people do not re-buy because they don't want to lose more than $10 a night. We typically get 1 re-buy per night at most. Most players leave if they get stacked.
I don't want too many people getting felted in the bomb pot round and then leaving because they don't want to buy back in. Here's what I'm thinking:
Everyone will get a bomb pot chip at the start of the night. At any point during the night when they have the dealer button, players can elect to use their bomb pot chip to play a bomb pot. The ante will be 3BB, so $.30 per player. Any player can also choose not to participate. Then the dealer can choose 1 of 4 game options: NLHE, Lazy Pineapple, Super Hold Em, or Double Board Hold Em. After the bomb pot the dealer button will still move 1 player like normal.
My two concerns with bomb pots are: players getting felted and then leaving early disappointed, and the circus games being too complicated. I'm considering making the bomb pot a fixed limit game to prevent too many people from getting stacked.
Any thoughts from anyone introducing bomb pots and poker variants into their home games?
