Here and there...
Hello All

As I did not find any other thread, I hope that this is the appropiate one to post this.

I designed some CPC Poker Chips for a friend of mine exactly one year ago. This guy is now becoming 40 years and a big event is ahead and a nice gift is needed...
I found Makeplayingcards.com some time ago and it was decides very quickly with our poker core team that it is worth a try and that those cards would be a quick win in either way – funny or really good.
Based on that decision, I started to investigate the website and found very easily what I need. The website is quite professional and lean.

We decided to go with qty 7 (6+1 spare just in case) Sets of Jumbo Index Poker Size Plastic Playing cards with a custom tuck box. On top I selected a 6 Decks Brick Box - again fully customized.

For each product, you’ll find a template to fill with your design with two options a) do it quick and dirty on their website or b) go for Photoshop and upload a PSD file.

Once I’ve finished my design, I started the order process which is again very professional. You will be easily led through all necessary steps and can add options after each step. If you need details PM me...

Based on my order I immediatly received a feedback where MPC asked me to correct my design in some specific ares to better meet the print requirements.

They exactly showed me the impacted areas. I updated my file which ended up to big and the upload failed. After a short email exchange (all this happeneded within hours) we decided to go via dropbox and everything was done.
The order process was fast, professional, responsive and much better than i’ve ever expected.

Today I received the cards and I wanted to share the final result with the community.

Inside the package there have been:
7 sets of Cards (sealed in shrink foil) inside of the custom tuck boxes (again in foil).
2 brick boxes ( I ordered one only)
2 sheets of seals ( orderd one only)
Everything was covered inside of transparent foil.

The only thing to claim was the package itself as it was not appropriate closed.
But to me it seems that this was due to opening by customs....

Conclusion

I am not a card expert and checked only one deck out of 7 so far. There will be more details end of this year...

The „out of the box“ feeling of the cards is quite good. The print is crisp and clear. The cards are printed very good and the color cannot be scratched of by finger nails.

Without any comparision, the cards does not feel worth than other cards I am used to ( we normally play fournier and copacs).

But again as sayed before , just out of the box!

Nevertheless the final result is pretty clear- I need those cards customized for my Bel Air set. There is no way around. I really like the result (without long term research J ) and I am on board too.

Sidenote: This is not a payed advertisment!!

And for all the chipaholics - these are the CPC chippie...

With my very best regards from germany.
Cheers
Nils

EDIT:
1st thing to notice - the Jumbo Index is VERY BIG. You have to bend 1/3 of the cards to see what kind of suit you have. Conclusion for me - do not take Jumbo Index!

Great review. I'd love to hear how the cards hold up after an all night session of cards.

FWIW. I fucking love those chips. Sale by any chance? :)

I'm sorry. You misunderstood me. I don't want a sample set. I want 500 chips.

Frak! Time for Colony Club plastic cards. Have to dig into it deeper.

Nils, if you have time, could you PM me the requirements of PSD files they need. I reckon for the cards and also for the boxes right? Time to contact John again :)

And huge thanks for the review and this thread.

Those look nice. I'd also like to hear how they hold up to a night of play - nicks, scratches, and bending in particular.

I'd be curious to know how they feel compared to the cards you normally use. In my experience, Fournier's tend to feel a bit stiffer/thicker than Copags, and have more texture to them than Copags. How do the custom cards compare to those?

Nice review mate. I am also in the process of getting some custom MPC cards for Blades. I agree about the website - so easy to negotiate :-). Love the custom boxes :-)

I'll try to make an educated research between MPC/Fournier/Copac/KEMs

thanks for the review, looks like you got a quality product and great service to go with it. Please keep us posted on how they last over time.

I'm a fan of the big guns... Bayern Munich

Thanks for the review! Cards turned out great. Awesome birthday present!

How much was shipping to Germany?

@Mr Hanky

Hi Folks
As the cards are in play earliest close to X-Mas I took the opportunity to do a quick comparison to my Fournier Cards before packaging the gift...

MPC (Jumbo Index Standard Face) vs. Fournier Jumbo Index
IMG_3222.JPG

The first thing that you'll notice is the color difference between both cards.
The Fournier Cards are more antique white and the MPC which are bright white.
Both cards have an equal sized Jumbo Index. The font of the MPC is much thinner than on the Fournier cards.
You'll notice a color difference as well. Fournier red is more burgundy and MPC is a much more aggressive tone.
As MPC offers full customizable faces, you can change it to whatever you want. For me it was to much effort to change it.
All in all a matter of taste.

The size of the cards is almost identical. there is a difference in max. 0.1mm. The MPC is unnoticeable smaller in length.
You'll notice that only in direct comparison.

The printing is very good and crisp. The print quality is the same than on the fournier. No noticeable misprinting, fine lines very accurate.

The MP Cards are a bit thicker than the fournier cards. On a complete deck, the thickness differs for about 5-6 cards.
Right out of the Box, the MPC cards do smell a bit strong. Let's see how long this will last.
Bending of the MPC cards is quite good and they get back in shape immediately without any noticeable deformation.

The surface of the MP Cards is slightly textured but a loot smoother than the fournier cards. Releasing some cards on the deck, they float a bit aside, but not more than the fournier cards do.

All in all, we have to see how the cards will stand some games.
Coming back again beginning of next year.
So long....

I believe the darker red is also known as "security" ink. It makes it much harder to tell a red from a black card with a quick flash.
