The Current State of Chipping (2 Viewers)

IDK...I've been consistently scoring relatively sharp Starburst for ~$1/chip over the past several weeks.

If you want cheaper, you can always consider non-Paulson clays. I mean seriously...that almost 1000-piece set of tri-clubs was fully playable and ready-to-go in the marketplace for $400 before being split. If you really needed red with said set, there is a triclub set on eBay right now. There's also those horseheads on here for 50c/chip, those diasqr molds that never sold...

Plenty of affordable clay sets out there. You're crying about nothing.

Wow the most readily available chips throughout all of chipping are still available and still cheap must mean the current state of chipping is awesome and booming.
(This is a bank bag, mediocre-at-best-chili, and housing market thread now anyway where have you been.)

It really has been a weird reset that for sure! On the forum chips were paying $6 - $8 for now just sitting at $3… but the singles market is still like this

$16.50 for a Pick Hobson $25… man these used to sit for $2.50 a chip?

Everyone always gives credit to the singles market… but we all know there is nothing truly rare about PH chips except the beautiful yellow fracs (I actually thought that one was a bit low, they have been going for closer to $50 each).

Anyways my point is that this market truly has become very interesting to navigate… glad I’m mostly retired and don’t really care what my chips are worth. Would love one more barrel of Artichoke $4s, but I’m not paying over $60 a chip for my babies… it’s just too much. I mean only a couple get listed a year now and that could be singles guys… whom ever you are good luck! I have most of them! Lol

Don't know about "booming". But it's not much worse than when I was buying and selling a lot of sets 3-4 years ago.

Paulsons seem a little more expensive, but not too bad. That said, I'm not busy buying old Pharaohs or CDIs or such for $5-$10/chip, so I cannot speak to the market for those chips. Solids are still reasonable, however.

It seems non-Paulson clays are going for a little less than they did 4 years ago. 3-4 years ago, I consistently got 50c to 70c per chip. Now people on here can't seem to sell a 1000-piece, non-Paulson set for even 40c/chip without having to split it.

Guys, stfu.

It’s fine now. There’s PCF REWARDS now! So we can have another meaningless number next to our names to gamify the chipping experience!

And new giveaway system!

Cause we’re a community, not a marketplace.

This entire thread goes against the theme of our community, everyone posting here will have their PCF REWARDS account frozen by Tommy and docked points.

Personally, I think we should have an annual member HOF and a homegame HOF so we can each year elect several people to elevate above all others.

Prolly will get more participation than the current HoF for custom chips.

Personally I’m looking forward to the ribbons and name/avatar placards.

I think they were teasing an achievement/trophy system that will connect with anyone’s Xbox 360 2005 achievements game score system too.

Mine is the coolest
Your game has more interesting drama than @krafticus game. No one’s nutted on his table or tried to violate his pet, or desecrated the bathroom (as far as I know).

But someone did throw a chip against the wall and break it, but in that person’s defense the runnout was ridiculous.

Wow. Sounds like a total shitshow over there. My players dont resort to such violence.

I was actually thinking about this the other weak, sorry week, of what are the best home game setups I’ve seen on here since my living room and temporary poker den still has the poker table and chairs in it (should all be away in the garage after game night).

Anyways - the Heritage club for me is up there for a permanent non-basement homegame setup. I know you’re not angling for compliments and it’s the opposite of what you’re going for, but it is sweeeeet.

If you factor in basements, yeah, it ain’t in the top 5 ;) Or if you switched the cat out for a dog you’d get my vote.

Player had a stern talking to, but has since not had any issues and has learned how to control their "tiltiness". This player has never once missed a game at the SpeakEC, and honestly, never will.

Saturn won't be replaced by any dog. I caught him last night, showing his dominance over such inferior creatures...

Can words or theme songs from, say, the early forties be construed as a form of violence?

The current state of chipping for me….I’m down to collecting Sundance chips, some more CDI $100s, hot stamp BOH, a rack of murdered tiger blurples, and selling what I don’t need.

We'll check back in with you next month. You know... when things change again lol

I wasn’t there but I heard he left a game early once to attend to the birth of one of his children.

Cigar forum I used to sometimes go on nominated and elected an “aficionado of the month” who got to like pick a theme and some other stuff. In theory was interesting for a hobby around a shorter term thing then this (can always just do a group buy start of month and then everyone smokes it) but in reality it always felt like a really gross popularity contest to me where the in crowd went in a circle glazing each other and as the AOTM started to act more and more like a king over time it also reinforced cliqueiness and inside jokes that were very gate keeping
