People don't want to take the time to sell their random singles, barrels, and sample sets and such. Posting wanted ads is a great way for people to fill in some holes in sets they need while others can unload the random stuff they don't need for some extra money with just the effort of a PM. Win/Win.

Not that I partake in such activity or have any bias or anything....

I agree with you, but it seems like the WTS and auctions for nice sets have really gone down in frequency the last several weeks ...

I agree with this. I have a bunch of extra $1 singles I’ve picked up over the course of building my mixed set, and now I have no clue how to get rid of what I don’t need. The thought of packaging/shipping a bunch of small packages does not appeal to me.

I sincerely appreciate those that have been willing to sell me small orders though, so maybe I’m just a big hypocrite.

I did a little bit of this recently with some sets I was trying to "right size". Just think, if all of us did that we might create some new playable sets out there, a barrel at a time!

I am still pretty new. It's been a few months...

But I've been a super busy buyer.

PM made it all happen.

I've accumulated 3160 chips approximately since joining in March. I first purchased 700 from CPC direct. Another 800 or so via Sales ads...

But more than half of my herd is unaccountable in terms of sales or auctions.

All PM.

@Changster You are very right! :)

I have accumulated a couple of decent sets that make me very happy, that's for sure. I've had amazing help as well.

I feel they deserve to be well photographed. I'll have some time in the next few days and I will use a proper camera and post pr0n.
 
Haven't noticed a shortage of For Sale ads but I have noticed any increase in sales ads with sets that have any combination of incomplete racks, mismatched inlays/hotstamps, non-standard breakdowns/denominations, basic solids, warping, chips with repeated spot colours etc.

Basically everyone empty the unwanted chips from their bottom draws that they have accumulated over the years.

The problem is most of them are priced wayyyyy too high for what they are.

For Sale - 91 good condition green THC with random "FRG" hotstamps for only $1.75 a chip. Get Gear to mill and label them and have yourself a custom set easy peasy for only $3.50 a chip!
 
Careful. Advocating running over a president whether you agree with him or not, isn’t appropriate.
 
Yes, the ratio of wanted ads to for sale ads has definitely changed over the last couple months. But chip sales do have a measurable seasonal effect. We'll probably see more stuff coming up for sale in the fall and winter. Especially when more people are looking for additional funds for the holidays.
