The chip that started it all. What's yours? (1 Viewer)

These chips forever ruined me when it comes to using regular commercial chips. Sold them to buy an SxS-ATV...Yamaha Viking...great vehicle but selling these cost me a bundle replacing them with (to me) better sets. This was a pretty uber Pharaoh set that played some pretty fun games.

Wow a thread started on my birthday and I haven’t responded to it yet?!?!? Must have something to do with the fact I don’t remember much of that day anyway! Either way my first set that got me down the rabbit hole were the Imperial Casino. Then I got a sample of CPC’s and decided to get Paulsons. The Aransas are one of my only chipping regrets though. It was an amazing I think 700-800 chip breakdown for like $850-$900. At the time I hadn’t yet convinced myself that $850 for poker chips was in fact very reasonable so I passed. I’d be surprised if I could get them for anywhere under a grand today. Either way whoever got them good pickup and keep me on the contact list if you ever sell them.

My first chip was a Luxor $5 that I received as part of my payout at my first ever tournament in Vegas.

Regarding the fisrt "real" chip I bought, I think it was a rack of Lakeshore Inn 25c.

I used it in my first (mixed) cash set.

Excuse the dirty stacks. We were playing chip for chip. The All-In poker chip. My first not plastic set I acquired about 20 years ago. I think I traded a puppy from a litter we had to a guy I met thru poker. He wound up loving that dog until it went over the Rainbow Bridge. I still have the chips. We’ll sort of… They’re being used in the game our son spreads at the dorms down near Chicago.

So proud.

There's something very eerie about your post. I bought my brother some nexgens that came in that wood case you have. He bought me paulson classics that came in that aluminum case you have. This was the beginning of my paulson journey some 18 years ago. But it was the fun ships $5 that sold me. I started playing the casino on the ship at 18 with my great uncle. He taught me three card poker. One night I shocked the table playing black jack. Short story, I stayed on a 7 in black Jack while I was in the last seat. All other were hitting, like 10 cards before me, no tens came out. Dealer shows 16, I was sure he would bust. I STAYED, they said I was nuts for staying on a 7! They thought I was crazy. Dealer busted and we all won! Yesssssss!!!!

This one. This is the damn chip that ruined my life.

I was perfectly happy with $0.29/chip used bike tire Grand Victorias, until I saw this minty TRK goddess of a chip on eBay.
It has been all downhill from there.

used those silly dice chip type of chips for many years before I got my hands on real Paulsons about 12 years ago.

Bremerton Lanes 1s
Aztar 5s
Aztar secondary 25s relabeled as mgm fracs
And a barrel of random yellow roulettes relabeled as Bellagio 20s

Eventually found this forum in 2018 or so and that set was replaced… bought and sold and missed out on so many since…. It’s really fun… and sometimes sad

Just realized I am taking part in reviving a really old thread without realizing it  :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:

I was happy with dice chips until the 2004 WSOPs hit the market. That was the beginning if the end...

Brought it back from my one Vegas trip, had it in a drawer for a few years and rediscovered it after joining PCF.
Started building a set around it pretty much right away.

Still have it with me for important occasions like here in the ICU for the birth of my son.

Exact same chip that started it for me. First chip I ever played with in Vegas

I used to go to a yearly convention held at the Riveria. These walked away with me from a failed attempt at blackjack at some point and sparked my interest in gathering more. Now that the Riviera is gone, I'm especially attached to these.
