I have a small question that I don't understand. Maybe it has been discussed before, but I couldn't find it.
What's the story with the Tech Art cards that are often used in casinos for blackjack and how does it work?

I don't understand why the ace is placed lower and the kings are not.
Are they good for playing games other than blackjack? Isn't it a problem when the indexes are down and you hold the cards in your hand like a fan, which is common in many games?

Usually in home games we use plastic for poker, but paper for everything else.

Just using ChatGPT to explain this more easier...
  1. Dealer Peek Check in Blackjack
    • In blackjack, when the dealer’s upcard is an ace (or sometimes a ten-value card), the casino procedure is to check (“peek”) whether the dealer also has a natural blackjack.
    • With a special mirror (peek) or sensor, the way the ace sits lower makes it easier for the dealer to peek at the second card discreetly, without revealing it to players.
  2. Preventing Misreads
    • By offsetting the ace index lower, the dealer can differentiate it instantly from other cards when doing the peek. This minimizes mistakes and speeds up the process in live play.
  3. Security / Anti-Cheating
    • Tech Art and other casino suppliers build these subtle variations into card faces to make them harder to counterfeit and easier for dealers to use properly under surveillance.
In other words, it's slightly lower so that the dealer doesn't have to work as hard to make sure it's an ace. If the face card is a picture, then the dealer can see if it's an Ace with less effort. It's done that way in the dealers favor, no other reason.

Ooooh thanks, that makes more sense now.
It turns out that the dealer can immediately determine without thinking whether he has "21" (ace + 10 or picture), which is obvious and makes intuitive counting easier or calculates when he has an ace + 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
