Okay, so originally, the cost was $10 per square. We sold 27 squares. Payouts were supposed to be
  • $25 for each of the 8 Sweet Sixteen game
  • $75 for each of the 4 Elite Eight games
  • $100 for both Final Four games
  • $300 for the Championship game

Option 1: Shut it down, refund all money

Option 2: Change the price to 3 squares for $10. That will take us to 81 squares sold, with 19 remaining. The current prize pool is $270 (with 19 open squares); the max. prize pool would be $330 (with one open square). I will continue to accept payments if anyone else wants in, but I propose payouts as follows:
  • 20% of the total prize pool (that's $54 currently (around $7 per game) up to $66 max (around $8/game)) allocated among the 8 Sweet Sixteen winners
  • 30% of the total prize pool (that's $81 currently (around $20 per game) up to $110 max (around $27/game)) allocated among the 4 Elite Eight winners
  • 20% of the total prize pool (that's $54 currently (around $27 per game) up to $66 max (around $33/game)) allocated among both Final Four winners
  • 30% of the total prize pool (that's $81 currently up to $110 max) allocated tothe Championship game winner
If we go this route, its a go! We will have up to 19 blank squares (if we don't sell any more) but at least one open square (if we sell 18 more squares for $60 more). Prizes are allocated by round. So if an unsold square hits a Sweet Sixteen game, the 20% is allocated among the other 7 games. If an entire round has no winners, the prize amounts for that round will be distributed evenly among winners from the previous round. So if an unsold square wins the Championship game, the 30% allocated to the Championship game will be split by the winners in the Final Four round. All payouts will be determined after the Championship game so I can round as closely as possible.

This new proposal is not what everyone signed up for, so WE WILL ONLY GO WITH OPTION 2 IF EVERYONE AGREES. I'm in, but I need agreements from @dkersey, @dpeks13, @JDPoker, @k9dr, @Littleluck55, @paulkersey, @soccerdadof3 and @Statesvegas. Please confirm you are in below. Also, please select your additional squares if you are in. You have until 4:00 p.m. EDT to confirm you are in for OPTION 2. If we don't have a unanimous agreement by that time, I will default to OPTION 1 and refund all money.

If anyone else wants to still get in (currently, $10 per square, but eligible for 3 squares for $10 if OPTION 2 passes), indicate you are in below, also indicate you'd be in for 3 squares for $10 if everyone else agrees, select your squares and pay via Paypal.

Go!

I'm 100% a go, thanks for organizing this so well. I just sent the $20 that I owed. Please randomly select my additional 4. Thanks!

Need to know by 4:00 p.m. today if you're in for OPTION 2, otherwise we'll go with OPTION 1 and all money will be refunded.

  • 20% of the total prize pool allocated among the 8 Sweet Sixteen winners
  • 30% of the total prize pool allocated among the 4 Elite Eight winners
  • 20% of the total prize pool allocated among both Final Four winners
  • 30% of the total prize pool allocated to the Championship game winner
If we go this route, we will have up to 19 blank squares (if we don't sell any more) but at least one open square (if we sell 18 more squares for $60 more). Prizes are allocated by round. So if an unsold square hits a Sweet Sixteen game, the 20% is distributed among the other 7 winners.

Please confirm you are and if so, please select your additional squares. You have until 4:00 p.m. EDT on 03/28/24 to confirm you are in for OPTION 2. If we don't have a unanimous agreement by that time, I will default to OPTION 1 and refund all money.

If we are going with OPTION 2, you can buy more squares through 4:00 p.m. today. Sometime after that (but before tip off), I will randomly assign any additional squares that haven't been selected, then I will randomly assign numbers to the rows/columns.

Tip off is 7:09 EDT tonight.

OPTION 2 votes:
 @WedgeRock (in for $30)
 @Littleluck55 (paid $40)
 @JDPoker (paid $20)
 @soccerdadof3 (paid $20 + $10 = $30)
 @paulkersey (paid $20)
 @Statesvegas (paid $40)
 @dkersey (paid $50)
 @dpeks13 (paid $20)
 @k9dr (paid $20)

Prize pool: $270 (or $280 if @JDPoker is in for another $10)

@Littleluck55: need 8 provisional picks
@WedgeRock: need 6 provisional picks (I'll pick last)
@Statesvegas: need 8 provisional picks
@JDPoker: if you're in for another $10, I need 1 more pick and 2 provisional picks (so three more picks total)

I just realized you guys are getting killed with mentions.

Going forward, I will remove the mentions unless action is needed.

Squares are $10 each, but in an effort to fill it up, I am proposing 3 squares for $10. So do you want $10 in squares? Or $20 in squares?
