Suggestions for mid range cards? (1 Viewer)

Define midrange, somewhere around 1khz? Or dollar amount... say $15 a set? You can go lower and higher, but, in that range there are a few. I'm having good luck with the DaVinci.

There are some Davinci and Modiano setups on Amazon - $14.99 delivered for two decks.
I buy all the expensive decks and none of the cheap ones, but those two options are great for the price these days.

There's a source on eBay for used 2012 WSOP sets, Bicycle branded, made by Fournier. This particular offer gets you 4 sets (8 decks) for under $10 plus under $10 shipping. I've had good luck with these. Worth a try. https://www.ebay.com/itm/152686912359?hash=item238cd96367:g:0yoAAMXQjq5Q~biu
Agreed. Even though these are “used” during the WSOP, it was only for a short time before a new deck was introduced.
I have 8 setups of these and they all appear new.

I've got a few sets of the Fournier WPT cards, forget what year, but, they are poker sized and maybe my favorite. They make me feel like if I were a ninja I could use that card to cut someones head off, stick it back in the deck, and no one would know!

Cartamundi CCP are cheap and extremely high quality. Best bang for the buck by far and I own most brands of cards out there. There isnt such a thing as mid range cards. The price of plastic playing cards doesn’t necessarily equal the quality…plus cards aren’t that expensive to begin with.

If you're referring to the American made Cartemundi then I'd call this a difference of opinion. I bought one set of those, and, I'd rather play with paper decks. They have no texture, at all, unless you call slick as ice a texture. Probably the flimsiest card I've ever tried.

I don’t know what you tried but these cards are American made and anything but flimsy. I’m convinced they are the same stock as Gemaco Superflex and are on the stiffer side of the spectrum

Mine look like that. Worst cards I own. You want them?
No thanks. I have several sets including about 30 others from almost every manufacturer that makes cards. They are far from flimsy. Not sure your frame of reference to possibly think they are flimsy…but I’d have hard time believing you have these same cards. They are a couple notches stiffer than the Divincis you like

Frame of reference is from the 30 or so decks i own, from KEM (old and new) Gemaco, Del Negro, Desjgn, Modiano, Angel, Da Vinci, Fournier, Cartemundi (Belgian and US) Copag and there's probably a few I'm missing. They are the flimsiest cards of the lot. There is no texture on either side. Its almost like they have a polarizing effect and repel each other. I'll take a pic of the box and cards and post for comparison.

The KEM and Angel are flimsy, but, have decent texture. These are more flimsy than both of those.

Sounds like you are likening "flimsy" to "texture". You clearly want a card with a grippy texture and not smooth.

I've used the Cartamundi's in question (I have a couple setups) and don't like them as they feel very stiff and are less than fun to shuffle a couple hours into a session, especially if I'm dealing.

I'm not, but, perhaps what I wrote came across that way. I mentioned that they have a slick texture, that they slide like they're on ice. I also mentioned that these are the flimsiest of all the cards I have. Hence, the worst cards for me. I mentioned how the KEM and Angel are soft, flimsy cards, yet, have good texture, therefore, they are easy to handle. On the other end of the spectrum are the Fournier and Faded Spade, which are quite stiff. Belgium Cartemundi tend to fall more in the middle of stiffness. Stiffness referring to resistance to folding in two, if that helps.

Kems are my favorite cards. They are noticeably more flexible and less stiff than CCP. I’m at a loss for words that you feel that way but it’s all subjective. I’d have a very hard time believing most people would find them “flimsy”….more likely the opposite

I may have an outlier. I had high hopes when I ordered them, but, matter how many times I come back to them they are just a disappointment. If someone wants them they are welcome to them. Only one deck had been opened, I believe, and they've only been shuffled a few different occasions by me, never put in play.

If I'm remembering correctly, they are out of Texas.

Can’t go wrong with statesman bridge jumbo.
I know someone who can get you a ripper deal

Desjgns are probably my favourite in poker size!
I agree but I'd call them high grade vs. mid grade. It seems there are three groupings of US retail plastic cards:
Low (<$12): Chips/Games, Neasyth, Teskyer, Royal, etc
Mid ($12-$20): DaVinci, Copag, Cartamundi, etc
High (>$20): KEM, Desjgn, Bullet, Guild, etc

Pricing may be the worst way to divide card stocks....just saying

1. Price does not (always) equals with quality
2. Pricing can be very supplier & region depending (and/or taking shipping in account)
3. Too many subjective elements in determining what makes a quality card (for you)

It's beter to check Dix's DB and buy a few decks based on what you like.
A well taken care of deck/set-up of cards you like, will always be worth the money....a deck/stock you hate can not be cheap enough

I pulled these out this morning, and, for the life of me I CANNOT figure out what the heck you jacklegs are talking about when you say these are the flimsiest cards ever! :)
I guess my hatred comes from the Teflon coated black ice finish they have. After messing with them today I have to retract the part about "flimsiest," actually, I think the stock is pretty good, the texture and finish suck, at least to me.

That part about flimsy? I was just bluffing! Man I can't wait to play cards with you guys and take your money!!! :)

Anyone that wants to try these out just pm me your address and I'll send them out.
