Does anyone have any recommendations on how to get rid of the horrible smell from Copag cards outside of handling them over time?

Between all of my buddies and myself, we have 14+ decks of Copag cards and we all have tried different methods of getting rid of the chemical smell from the cards with no true success. We have tried mild soap, airing them out for long periods of time, I think someone even sprayed theirs with Fabreeze but they all still smell horrible.

Sure the smell has faded a bit over time, but after a full night of play, your hands still smell awful and it takes several times washing your hands to get the smell off of your hands. Any suggestions will be appreciated!

In the future I’ll probably acquire different brands to see if they also smell, but we are currently loving the designs/colors from our current cards so there isn’t a need to buy new ones outside of collecting more just to have more cards.

The last setup I got I washed them with dish soap and then left them out to air for 36 hours or so and it was mostly gone. I'd never run into the smell with the several setups I used in the 00's and 10s but this was horrid.

I’ll try some dawn dish soap. My buddy tried mild hand soap, but I have been going down the “air them out” route. When I’m not playing, I sit them spread out in our guest tub

If it's still bad enough it's bugging you, there are cheaper less smelly options available. The cards sold by @justincarothers at Broken Arrow are one such at $8/setup before shipping. I ordered a single setup when I was new and with shipping it was only $13.

They are on my list for when I buy my next set ;)

Love the design of the professional series he has posted rn!

All I use are copag cards, I never had a problem. Never noticed the smell, but I’ve had covid and I’m 70.

Belgium Copags stink even more than the brazil ones.
There are so many great cards available, don‘t stick to Copag…
They are $10 a deck - comparable to KEM in price/performance ratio.
