Substitute for Red 8V Compression Clays? (1 Viewer)

When ABC Gifts and Awards had the sale on the 8V Compression Clays, I bought some for a tournament set. I liked how it turned out so much, I decided they would make good chips for a micro-stakes cash set and bought more. Unfortunately, by the time I did, there were no more reds left for my $5 chips. I'm looking for three or four barrels of them, but they are hard to come by. So, in the meantime, does anybody have any suggestions for a suitable (and somewhat cheap) substitute to use until I can find some?

I’m looking for something a lot more on the cheap than plaques. Plaques would be great, but I paid 10 cents per chip (plus whatever I spend on labels) for the nickels, quarters, and dollars. 60 to 80 $5 plaques would be 3x or 4x more than the set.

I almost pulled the trigger on the 43mm Royals (that @BGinGA suggested) a while ago and still may.

Pretty sure same material as my spirit clay. Note the little bites on the blue.

Yes, same China clays as the 8V's, only in solids.

What else you got for solids in that mold?

and.....yellow...… nevermind.

Solids are something like this:
Red
Purple
Green
Brown
Light Grey
Faded Black (more like Charcoal grey)
Faded Pink
Faded Orange (sort of like a light peach but even more faded than that)
White (not stained like 8V)
Blue (darker blue than 8V)
Yellow (yes I said it)

Nowhere near the quantities that we had for the 8V's.

Not the same material. PGI had the greek key mold chips produced (L version, not the cheaper Progen J version) and they actually supplied the raw materials to the manufacturer. Most (nearly all) other china clays use(d) recycled materials, and formulas can and have changed, even from batch to batch. Very little in the way of quality controls (or safety concerns) in most Chinese plastics factories.

The Spirit mold chips were one of the very first china clays produced, by Eastony Industries.

I seriously doubt he would be interested in mgk solids as the largest denomination in his 8v-spotted mgk set.

All of the mgk mold chips are similar, and are of higher quality than the spirit mold chips.

I think the spirit molds have a nicer feel and sound than the MGK's, but they sure seem brittle.
