Can this be done? I've got 120 x 25's. 120 x 100's, 100 x 500's and 10 x 1K's of absolutely beautiful chips on their way and I'm trying to find a use for them. I have 4 cash sets so I don't need any more of those (yes, I know how that sounds!) and I have a T100 MTT set that's perfect, so I can run that when I do larger games, only it's ceramic and this one is a nice mint paulson set.

But I was wondering if any of you ever run a T25 base T2500 stack game? I can run an STT of up to 10 with this set 8/8/4 or 12/12/2 for a T3000/2500 starting stack. Am I wrong in thinking this can work? just start with 25/25 right? and that should be enough for colour ups and 6 rebuys.

Thoughts?

25/25 blinds with T2500 starting stacks is 100bb, which will actually play pretty small (i.e.,turbo) unless you start at 0/25 blinds and go with longer blind levels.

I think you're better off with larger starting stacks and getting more T500s in play at the start.

First thing that comes to my mind is a T5k starting stack: 12/12/7, with 3 T500 per player to color up the 25s and 100s, plus a T1k chip as time bonus. I think it would work fine, but not allow rebuys.

Yup it looks like I’ve got 100 x 500’s (which I edited my post to reflect last night) so that should help boost it. I’ve put out a want ad for more 1k’s. If I can get 20 more of those I’ve got enough for colour ups and rebuys for an 8 player game.

I’d prefer to make this the monthly tournament set so I don’t really want a freeze out game. Turbo is ok if I have enough for rebuys.

12/12/5 for a 4K stack would leave 35k in the bank, enough for color ups and 5 rebuys. Probably not a comfortable amount. Getting it to 5k with more 1ks and possibly even a barrel of 5k chips is your best bet. Early Blinds of 25/25, 25/50, 50/75, 50/100 will let you maximize the play on a 200 bb starting stack and not get too short too quickly.

Since $5k’s are so hard to get. I’ll probably get some plaques made. But I still want more t1k’s.

Maybe a barrel more 1k’s and 12-20 $2500 plaques?

Can you add a rack of $5s to the set? We play a T5 base tourney all the time with starting stacks of 2000 or 2500 and it works really well. Your set would work great for a single table with rebuys/add ons. Stacks of 10/10/7/2 (or 3).

Here’s some starting stacks from our T5 tourneys:

My group does the same and we all like it that way. 10/10/7/3, we don’t use any 1ks. The end of the game is played out with 100s and 500s. The 10x5 and 10x25 everyone starts with color up perfectly with the rest of the 100s. Rebuys are 5x500.

I'll just be honest here, I don't like T5 tournaments. This is partly a way to get the higher denoms into our games since we usually only play 25/50c cash and nothing larger than a $20-25 chip ever ends up on the table.

Nothing wrong with that. Most people prefer the t25 or t100 probably for the same reasons. .25/1/5/20s in cash t25 and up in tournament. I like your idea for the plaques. Should be easy to figure out the max number you’ll need. It’s always fun when an oversized high denom or plaque makes its way into the game.

I also have a T100 base set that has enough chips for an MTT, and T100 is my preferred base.

That said... I just love these Jack Cincy's:
So I think my plan is this for my monthly STT.
8 players, 1 rebuy each:
12 x 25
12 x 100
7 x 500

T5000 starting stack with 1 rebuy.

Leaves 20 after colour ups. and 10 1K's. That's 4 rebuys.

So I'll need either 20 more 1K's or 10 plaques.

12/12/7 for a single table t5k stack starting at 25-25 is a 200bb start. That seems workable.

Only enough chips for 5 re entries though.

Maybe T4000 is a better starting stack, still 160bb starting at 25-25.

Since you only have 10 of the oversize $1000s, I'd go with a rack of relabeled chips for an alternate -- and much cheaper -- higher denom chip. Pick your favorite orange / yellow / pink / white / whatever-color chip, get some gear labels made, and run your event with decent-sized starting stacks.

So thanks to a member here I tracked down 50 $1k’s and 20 $5k’s. They’re primaries and not secondaries but they’ll work. I can use the secondaries if I want to do a turbo too.

However, the extra chips allow me the ability to do 8-10 T10k stacks with 1 rebuy each (thanks to the 5k’s). Or a T20k freeze out.

Super pumped I made this set work.
Turbo:
12/12/5/1 T5000
T10k w rebuys;
12/12/7/5 T10000
T20k freeze out:
12/12/7/5/2 T20000
