Browsing the bay for chips, usually a waste I know. I came across these and 60 seconds later I own them. I think Burt Co. made them, and I have no idea what I'll do with them, but they'll be fun with the blackjack table I picked up this weekend.

So being new to chipping, my question is did I get a good deal? I paid $44 with free shipping for 100 chips.

Thanks for the input.

Not a bad deal. Not an excellent deal. In my view, just a few dollars above market price. Nothing to get worried about.

Now, if you'd paid for 2000 chips at 0.44 per chip,,then you would have overpaid.

Love those chips. I believe they normally sell for around $.50 a chip. Not a killer deal, but definitely not bad.

Those are HHR, horsehead right. As are the ones above. You paid ok. You can sometimes find older ones cheaper, but it’s hard to get a large set.
Search eBay for HHR or ASM/CPC chips and you’ll find some.

But HHL is where it’s at! . HHL was discontinued in the early 50’s I think.

I've seen 400 HHR solids for $15........ only once though..... :whistling:

Wow those blacks are beautiful. I have a soft spot for solid sets.

Any chance you’d want to sell some of those ones, if they’re yours??

I have HHL’s from 1967

@ekricket actually i may be mistaken. These were issued in 1967 but they look exactly the same as vegas silver slippers issued in 1950. These might be over stock chips sold to a casino in Calgary which also used the silver slipper name... Weird

I actually looked up what I remembered instead of relying on my faulty memory:

From antiquegamblingchips.com

"....HORSE HEAD LEFT (HHL) -- 16 horse heads looking left. 1950's-1965. Bill Borland's Blue Book cites Paul-son & Co., Las Vegas NV; and C. W. Rice Co., Walnut Creek CA, as distributors. …….."

I had read somewhere else that the HHL mold had been destroyed (NOT the HHR mold, its still in use) but I'm pretty sure I saw a picture of somebody having one of them in the last couple of years.

A little high for sure. Ive gotten all of mine for .20-.33 a chip but right now since i need white and red, and would have gladly paid what you did. Great find! If you ever want to sell these let me know!

I agree. Maybe a touch higher. It all depends though. Are "you" happy with them?
