Hello again,

I’m looking for opinions on what has been a draft design of mine for a number of years- it’s been marinating for a long time.

I seem to like more traditional chips, solids with hot stamp. But if I’m going custom via CPC, feels like I should have some spot pattern- I mean I want to get my moneys worth and spots are cool.

I drafted a few chips that follow a pattern of a classic base color with a similar color as the spot. Plan would be to silver hot stamp this, similar design plan as “Miles Club”

Blue - 25c
White - $1
Red - $5

NOTE - I just used the DSQ mold as a place holder. I also like HHR and CSQ.

Opinions are wanted! Thank you.

Maybe consider something else for the white chip? I thought at first the spots like blue ish, but might just be my screen. I'm not sure how they would look in real life? But I think the blue/light blue/grey/white are all similar ish.

The white is definitely the trickiest for this theme, as it’s a light color. The blue and red are easier because they are naturally dark. But since the white is light, you have to go darker on the spots. I definitely will be giving white some more thought. I’ve also considered making the base color gray with white spots, but that didn’t sit well after I digested it

The monochromatic design is not bad. I like this design.
Many real casino chips have flashy designs, but I think this design is excellent in that they seem to concentrate on your play.

Are you locked in on base colors? I agree with @Marius L about the colors and I would use either the white or the blue as my $1 and then go for something different for the frac. Like this for instance:

As for mold, I don’t think you could go wrong with either of those three. All excellent and it just comes down to personal preference.

Obviously I'm a fan of base and spot colors being in the same color group! https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/club-72-cpc-csq.89171/

My tastes are similar to yours with regards to traditional/solid/minimal, but I wanted to get out of my comfort zone a bit too with progression. I considered butterscotch spots on the canary $5, but I liked how mixing together the colors of my quarter and $1 together give you purple which gives the set a subtle flow.

Also think that the same spot pattern across all chips works really well with similar base and spot colors.

Yep, it's my avatar!
Haha, I shoulda noticed that.

Hey - since you have both inlays and hot stamps following a similar color theme I like, I gotta ask, which one of your sets do you like better?

I’m sure it’s like asking which child is your favorite, you love them all the same. But for the sake of the discussion, knowing it wouldn’t hurt the other set’s feelings lol, is there one you are more partial towards?

I’m not necessarily set in stone on white, but I seem to want the white to keep the traditional white red blue colors. Your mock up is giving me second thoughts though, that yellow looks really good next to others. Thanks for taking the time to do that.

Damn, I want to visit club 72 lol. Very nice. I’m considering keeping all the spot patterns the same too, as it seems to be a good balance of a traditional looking chip

Haha wow! I didn’t realize your set is the Miles club! Not sure if you saw my other thread from today about silver hot stamps, but I mentioned your hot stamp set as essentially what I’ve always pictured in my head for my set. Would say “SILVER CLUB” at the top, and “NEW JERSEY” at the bottom. If you’d be willing, maybe I can PM you and discuss how you created the design.

I’m a fan. I’ve come to realize that some of these lovely colorful chips are confusing in stacks- sometimes there’s so much going on it’s hard to mentally process what chip it is. The monochrome chip solves that and still gives each chip a bit of pop. Great balance.

i've had a similar thought for an 18xx set (which explains the weird color progression and the weird spot pattern on the brown), but never went anywhere with it because i don't play enough to justify it:

There’s a bcc set already like this. Forgot what they’re called though. Let me dig

Sure I don't mind!
