I'm thinking the issue might be the rollers being off by a bawhair. But there could be a mawkit in there that'll make ya boak if the person that owned it before ye had friends who were clatty basturts. You might even find a jobbie inside. Open'er up and have a swatch. You paid the lecky bill, amiright?

Καλά το πας, και ο Θεός να σε φυλάξει. :)

Tip #1 if you're going to open it up.... tape the lid closed before you do.

The lid will pop open when you pull the cover up & the springs on the hinges have a tendency to come off & try to hide somewhere. Plus they're a b*tch to get back on correctly without bending them.

(you can probably guess how I know this :D )
I had the same thing happen. I took apart my first machine to try to apply material on the inside areas to dampen the noise.

I wasn't successful in finding all of the springs nor putting them back in place.

I had a rough day beyond believe...but this made me smile laugh for the first time

THANKS !

I had to resort to sweeping a magnet around. Found all sorts of crap I'd lost under that bench, including the spring.

Ok latest update...

The seller has offered to refund 50% of the money or to refund the lot if I returned it

So that means I would have a 3 riffle top loader Shuffle Tech for £135.

The 7 riffle is dead and the side tray doesn’t work. I wasn’t planning on using the side tray anyway.

What would you do in my shoes?

Given that.... I'd keep it, but that's just me.

Roughly half the usual used price, for what is essentially functional enough for the purpose anyway... what's the downside?

Reality is, you're going to use the 3 riffle option 99% of the time anyway (at least I do).

Only time I ever use the 7 riffle button is on a fresh deck. So, if you have a fresh deck hit the 3 option twice. I doubt 7 riffles and a strip is all that much more "randomized" than 6 riffles & 2 strips.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Card room I play at has what appears to be a ST1000 and it seems to work fairly well. They play 3 nights / week. It may jam once per night. They only use Copag poker size, if that makes any difference. It seems they're recommended by SuffleTech on their site. Only down side is it sounds like someone's loudly sucking the last of a milkshake through a straw when it's shuffling.

I agree. I use the 3 riffle the majority of the time as well.

For a fresh desk I'd give it a good wash before putting it in the shuffler.

And if need be, run it on the 3 riffle a second time during those hands that are taking a bit longer than usual.

Keep it...will take it from your hands if you don't want anymore

You should used the 7, @RainmanTrail posted something about the deck order.

I would keep it and hit the 3 two or three times. Or do a wash every time.
3 riffles and a strip is the standard casino shuffle.

If you have a stub that's already randomized, that's plenty. 7 at that point is overkill.

Then, of course......

7 for every new deck. 3 for each deal. 7 for anybody requesting a luck change (maybe charge a small blind ante as house rule for fun). Also maybe a 7 at each blind change or change up just because.

I use the 7 option once every time the button makes it around the table, but like these guys said just push 3 twice and you should be fine.

If you feel the deck needs an extra few riffles, you could always just do it manually a couple of times then put it in the shuffler. I'm sure everyone at the table would gasp at the thought of manually shuffling when you have a machine to do it.

They also "wash" the deck before each shuffle though, big difference.

3 riffle shuffles by itself leaves you with a deck that is pretty easy to exploit.

If you consider simply fanning out the stub & collecting the cards a "wash"..... I don't. :D

'cause that's what I see more often than not.
each card should have touched the felt before it's a correct wash

I got asked earlier in this topic about what cards work best with a ShuffleTech.

Well, as I noted in another topic about jamming, keeping track of decks vs jamming kind of took a detour for a bit & completely tossed any validity to that list right out the window.

https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/shuffletech-jamming.62025/post-1297338

However, in the limited time since I've cured that problem.....

Best performing decks to date are Cartamundi Casino (Belgium-made - 1 jam in 3 hours) & Desjgn (old-stock Modiano - 0 jams - 2-1/2 hours). Now, this would also mean that Modiano Texas Poker would also work well as they are made on the same stock as the old version Desjgn.

ShuffleTech recommends Copag. I'll have to revisit the results of those in the near future, but I suspect they would work very well.

Based on what I've seen thus far I'm guessing that thinner/lighter is better than thicker/heavier. Kem didn't not fare well with jamming 3 or 4 times in about an hour & a half before I pulled 'em out & replaced 'em with the known good Cartamundi.

Kem
are .0130" thick, while everything else I've noted are .0120" or less.

Although, cards with an overly slick "glossy" type finish don't work very well either, regardless of thickness. Ace, Cartamundi Classic, & the USA-made version of Casino didn't fare too well at rate of jamming even though they are all .0120" & under.
