Show Us Your Live Stacks (79 Viewers)

Update 1. Almost a full double up.

I guess this doesn’t count as a “stack” since it’s just one chip after coloring up, but I don’t know where else to put this really.

I think house molds are starting to grow on me. Though hopefully what’s growing on me is not the same thing that’s growing on this chip.

Had a fellow PCFer in town for a meetup, so I decided to introduce him to the strange, wonderful circus that is the Palm Beach Kennel Club (PBKC) in all its eclectic glory.

We jumped into the nightly tournament while the livestream final table from the Friday noonday event was still wrapping up. Perfect start to the evening, bright lights, feature table, and us two geniuses registering late, one to punt off a buy-in, and another with actual tourney expertise (not me).

I proceeded to crash and burn in grand fashion in this 70-player field, busting 20th after a masterclass in how to turn a stack into a bad beat story – like we have all heard before. Our visiting PCFer, however, represented the forum well and bowed out respectably in 10th place, just shy of the money, but firmly put himself into striking distance.

He got to experience firsthand the local PBKC player pool,
The colorful lifer regs with stories older than the carpet,
The two players who never get along but somehow always end up at the same table,
And of course the one guy who doesn’t get along with anyone, at any table, in any card room.

Player banter was in full swing at multiple tables, but his table had the feature presentation: extended verbal fireworks, needles, and “polite disagreements” ( not quite, and not so polite) about strategy, rules, and discussions about each of the players "character" (always a good and colorful conversation) :)

We didn’t cash, but in terms of entertainment value, the buy-in was a bargain. Highly recommended for any out-of-towners who want the full South Florida poker experience.

Once I busted, I headed down to the cash room and hit the rough streets of the evening 1/2 NL scene, where I started building my wall one pot at a time.

After finishing 10th, my guest joined me in the cash area, which is in a separate room from the tournament. There he got the rest of the PBKC sampler:

The unique local flair,
The malfunctioning A/C,
The not-so-inspiring ceramic chips,
The dealers yelling “cocktails” because they have not electronic table system,
And a general sense of organized chaos.

He got to see the Wall in all its rubbed out /faded ceramic chip glory, and the newly acquired Oreo cookie (which many players commented positively about) and called it a night, and I soon racked up and cashed out.

In for $200, out for… let’s just say enough to keep the bankroll happy and the story worth telling, although if visit here, Your Milage may vary...
Out was $579
