Rivers Portsmouth 1/3 getting started..

Got bluffed into getting dragged to one of my least favorite card rooms after having lunch with a buddy to “help” with his 1/2 NL (200 max buy-in) game - so what are friends for, I said - lets make a deal ...I am no longer playing at this place for free drinks.
We made a deal: I’d come be his horse and discuss hands if he covered my first buy-in. He agreed.

End result:
  • Me: In for $0, out for about $580. Freeroll city.:)
  • Him: Lost two buy-ins and he paid my initial buy-in of 200. So he was in for $600, out for about $580. I told him he could keep all the profit from me if I was on his initial buy-in... so he basically hired me as his personal variance reduction consultant / Hedge Fund manager and he ended up almost breaking even.
  • We will be working on his game...:)

My wall construction.

New Years Day and no home game scheduled. Everyone is recovering and most will be watching football.
Made my way back to the Local card room which is mostly empty, and only a few games running.

Anyway - new band aid, same game 1/2 NL in for 200 (the max buyi-in) out for 715i ish...

Working on the Wall...

Beautifully! I noticed a few weeks ago a tiny chip on one of the pinks. My single compliant is the chips are a little bit "slippery" or at least more so than Paulsons.

Would do it all again!

These are played for just under 2 years now. VERY FEW "chips" in the chips like this.

Holding up beautifully, stickers etc. Look great.

Visiting family, went to a new Card room near them, named Orange City Racing, they wanted to play.
Started at 1/2 NL. In for 200 out for 540.
Wait a minute, played one last hand out of the rack, (which I don’t like to do) added to the wall. Out for 603.

Some plastic molded chips, they feel just like those Monaco chips, with slightly less weight.

Second trip to Orange City.

In for $205, got lucky, no rebuys.
Out for $785.

Interesting cast of characters (like most card rooms). Second visit to this place on this trip, and I still ended up with three familiar faces at the table from my previous session.

Dewey Tomko was there, this is his local spot. He was trying to get a 2/5 PLO started. He recognized me in the crowd, came over, and asked if I wanted to sit in his game. I introduced him to my family and let him know I’d be sticking with 1/2 this time.

The wall construction was completed in just under two hours, from the rail to the betting line.

If you are a low limit grinder in Central Florida, this place is a must stop here to play. I recommend you spend a month here building your bankroll.
Although - your milage may vary...

The chips are not too exciting, but once you convert them the cash, the disappointment evaporates.

$2-$3 $500 NLHE

AA held all in on turn with a semi-connected straight/flush draws out there to help dig me out of a hole:

Night not going great though. Missing draws, getting outdrawed etc.

Hand below, I run AJo into JJ to my left, player to my right has QQ on a J high rainbow flop. After $60 on flop bet 3 ways, two villains end up going all in on turn. Fairly easy fold, but always frustrating since it was the best hand I had for a couple of hours - but at least made the right fold:
