In for $200 in a relatively small stacked 1/3NL game.

Unfortunately my big hand was not the story of the night (I know many of you won't believe this, but this actually happened);

Maniac has shoved his $130ish stack pre-flop a few times, and does so this hand. Action folds around to a lady who has not played a hand the entire night. She has him covered with about $300. She looks around and says, "I'm not feeling lucky tonight.." And proceeds to fold two red aces face up. The table is stunned and we don't really believe what we just saw. I had to get up and walk around to consider how to play against folks who really have no business at a casino let alone a poker table.

$30 pre get 1 caller flop comes AA9 I bet $50 he calls turn 7 I bet $100 he jams $185 I call river 4 he shows A248... assPLOw is so fun!!
I doubt it would have mattered how you played it post flop. With trip Aces, he was hanging around until the end regardless. Was your $30 pre bet the full pot?

Yes $30 was full pot. Flop was 3 of us $100 in pot total, I actually only bet $30 on flop got the 1 caller then $100 on turn when he shoved for $185 total

Cant forget the time I turned under $100 live at BBC to over $1500! Anyone else ever play at Boston Billards Club? I always used to run into Ethan Rampage Poker this past summer as New Hampshire was the closest option for live poker during quarentine.

Yesterday was my first live game. It was 1/3NL, bought in for $300 using money I had won at home games. I was super nervous but was doing fairly well. Won some big pots and was up $200 for a bit. One of the pots was the high hand for a while, Queens full of Kings.

Then something incredibly stupid happened. My stack was down to about $415, the table limped to me in the big blind with J4o. I check and flop bottom pair. Checks all around to a J on the turn. So I made two pair. Villain raises $100. I got two pair and felt like he was betting with top pair so I call. River is a brick and he shoves. I make a hero call and he shows JKs. I thought I won the pot but didn't see the flush potential on the table and lost it all.

Looking back at it, I have no idea why I made that call. This is a line I would have never taken at home. I guess the nerves of first time playing live clouded my judgement. Overall, I fully expected to walk out with $0, so not too bummed out. Take it as a learning lesson, feel more comfortable going in the future and have realized I should think a little more before making a hero call like that lol

Nice. I love playing at Fortune. The nerves will wear off and you will play better next time.

Thanks for sharing and I agree with @Saoliver ... but promise you won't ever go in again expecting to lose it all. Your inner voice/confidence is just as important as your smarts!

I've heard such great things about it! I stopped by Red Dragon earlier in the day just to take a look at a poker room since I've never been but it looked so trashy. Fortune was clean and just a cool vibe. I think so too, patience was really paying off for me until that last hand haha

Oh I definitely won't! I worded that wrong. I went in to win, but it being my first time and not knowing what to expect I set my expectations lower. For next time, I know that I can hang in there. I had some really good hands and was winning decent pots.

I’ll be up through there tomorrow night, I might try to stop by & play some if I get done with what I have to do.

Seems like the days of $1/$2 in the casinos are dying out.
For some reason, it seems the 1/3 I am finding in most casinos these days actually plays smaller than the 1/2 of 3-5 years ago. While this observation is pretty anecdotal. I think it does have some validity in that so many small limit games are being axed along with the 1/2->1/3 bump, forcing those $50-$100 buy in players to the 1/3NL game.
