Should I get a Table Topper? What is the Point? (1 Viewer)

I recently got a Barrington poker table - decent quality - and I am weighing getting a table topper. I just don't know what the point of a table really is. Is it worth it?

If I do decide to get a table topper, what would be a good budget friendly recommendation for a retail table topper? (84in table)

I customize nearly everything, all hobbies. That's the attraction for me at first. But when I showed off a non basic topper (I have a neoprene topper and the pcf topper), my guests immediately commented on how well the cards played on the surfaces. You won't get that from the barrington cloth.

The cards don’t slide well at all on the cloth layout that comes with the Barrington. A topper will have the cards sliding like they’re on ice. As stated above, you don’t have to worry about the crease in the center of the table. Also as stated above, they’re easy to clean if there’s a spill.

But the best part is, you can fully customize it! Make it your own!

How is it installed? If it's under the arm rest is it easy to take off if it needs a wash? Or is it just like a mat on top of the felt? Sorry if this is a stupid question lol

Also I'm guessing you need to take it off if you want to fold the table right?

It falls right into place. And yes on removing it. Roll it up and store it separately before folding the table, otherwise you'll damage it.

Actually I forgot they fold outwards so they would fall off. Hehe.

It looks cool to have a custom table topper and the cards glide. It’s also nice to change things about a bit, either with different chips or table topper.

In its maiden voyage, someone spilled a longneck with orange-colored alcohol right down the middle of my new table, leaving a permanent stain on the fold.
A topper would have caught the liquid and made it much easier to clean.

Also, many of them are a huge visual upgrade to your table.

It’s like you’re asking a bunch of crackheads if you need crack.
If you want to upgrade or if you want to customize, then yeah, go for it. But do you need a topper? I’d say no. I’ve played on barringtons and they play fine. You own the table - are you dissatisfied with it? Do you feel like you need additional padding? Have you been bothered with that middle seam? It’s up to you.
