Looking for a rack or two of PCA $5s. Somewhat recently traded two racks and obviously that was a mistake. :confused Oh well, back on the hunt. :) Offering a rack. I have a few PCA trade options ($500s, primary $1s, fracs, $25s). Also happy to buy out your entire PCA set if you are considering selling.

I own one set. PCAs. I’ve owned and sold other boat chips. The PCAs, of the few sets I’ve owned, have been my favorite by far.

And I’m ok with that. I’m okay with others owning multiple sets - everyone can do as they will. My opinion is unless I offer an aggressive price, it’s going to be difficult to complete this one set.

they always have stuff that is not listed...

And just showing there is more than one way to find something...going the extra mile (not $$'s wise) is tough...but it's never crowded there ;)


One more thing...
Don't forget that the same member you are trying to bleed trough the nose for some chips...could be holding the other end of the stick the next time....
NEVER forget that...

I already posted my POV about the value of these versus ANY other THC chip out there, so not going to repeat.

I for one will not be hunting any more racks from now on...3 is plenty

How many primary $1s do you have for trade, and what condition are they in? If you had two racks of mintish primary $1s, we may be able to make a deal, but looks like you only have 1. Good luck with your search!

So I have 5 racks of PCA $5s. That’s what I needed to spread two tables of my game. But I don’t see spreading two tables in the covid world, and so I’ve thought about selling a rack.

But going to @Rhodeman77 ’s point, why would I sell unless I needed the money? There aren’t any better chips out there I could buy imo.

I’ve thought about auctioning a rack to give everyone a chance, but even if they sell north of $800 I’m still kind of indifferent.

I would consider trading my PCA set for another awesome set, but would have to be AWESOME - unfortunately, short of some grail type sets that are super unlikely to ever sell/be traded, I can't say I could envision an offer that would get me to move mine....never say never I suppose

For the record, I have 100 fracs, 300 $1s, 300 $5s, 100 $25s, between 40-80 $100s, and under 5 $500s (all secondary - exact amounts unclear to my current memory banks as I don't have them in front of me and haven't put eyes on them in over 5 months).

Something I’d like to add. A little while ago I put up a wanted ad for ES cash chips. In that set there were three racks valued at $8.00 per chip per the normal going prices. I had three offers in less than 1 hr. Did I get lucky?

If the community has normalized a high price on boat chips, that are somewhat easily accessible (other than a price gate), how does that affect the value of other chips?

Yet with these chips I can put up a wanted ad for almost double the community accepted rate and get radio silence. * If the same measure that was used to value boat chips is applied * to leaded, shaped inlay chips, that have actual history (and look awesome) then to me the PCA $5 is deeply deeply undervalued and I don’t understand why it wouldn’t be valued at $8+ per chip.

I think that is part of my own personal problem with this. There seems to me to be different measures used to apply different values to chips and that’s how we get to the term arbitrary. The value of these chips are just as arbitrary as the boat chips in that the measure used to apply value is simply the normalized historical price.

Or one could conclude that (some) boat chips are just plain old overvalued.
But they are not...because they sell at those prices...so PCA must be undervalued before because everyone tought there were plenty around.
Clearly not....

I do think that if current prices are here to stay, even more old chippers will be leaving the scene/classifieds.
I never seen so many old timers posting they are downsizing, limiting to customs sets or have reached chipping nirvana (or close)...besides just going silent.
We'll see in 6 - 12 months what will happen....

The big difference between PCA & boat chips is the way they came to market.

The PCA fivers were sold by TCR at low prices due to huge availability (on that moment)...they were offered in singles for 2 BIG sales.
It took more then 10 years to get where we are now...and they have 'beaten' a lot of chips on their travels :)

The boat chips hit the classifieds after they were revealed/leaked on PCF (x months after delivery)...many members were gobsmacked and wanted some more then anything...
Some members that were in the NAGB started flipping them soon after, prices went mega crazy from day one (crapshoot)...and only increased due to some shameless creativity in sucking max value on every sale. And (one) of the reasons why raffles were banned...(i hope). Since there was never a hoard of these on the market at once (like say 20-50K chips) current prices would have been much more on par with the old chips prices as we knew them (pre-NAGB)

There were A LOT less chips made from other NAGB chips that were not part of the boat buys....so these were also priced with boat prices in mind + premium for the lower #

And controversy sells :) (same with the BW chips)
