Getting some thoughts on making a round table for circus games. We generally play 7 handed or 8 max when we do that. Would a 54" round table work well for those times? My thought is no built in cup holders but we can use the slide in cup holders as needed. It's a self dealt game so a round would be easier to pass chips and cards around. Would also increase the social aspect of the game. We play in my game room upstairs and the oval table is a bit tight of a fit on the ends so makes walking out to the rest room difficult as the guy on the end usually has to get up for this to happen.

You'd probably be fine. I love a round table, especially in self dealt games. I think an extra inch or two is nice but not necessary.

Go for 60. @Irish built an 8 man 60 inch and its perfect. The issues with dragging pots from the middle of the table are overblown and this comes from a guy with short arms.
Only problem with the 60 is it starts to take up a lot of space. Would have to get rid of the couch to make that fit in the room we use which doubles as the kids play room. Luckily they are all older now (youngest is 8) so we got rid of a lot of the little kid toys. It's become more of a video game room now.

54" will be fine for 7, but pretty tight for 8. Round tables are awesome for the social aspect of a game and great for elbow space as you're not sitting directly next to someone, like on the straightaways of an oval table. The one drawback is they provide slightly less felt space directly in front of you. With 8 on a 54" table, elbow room may be livable, but you'll likely feel like you don't have enough felt area.

Felt space wasn't something I thought as much about. I guess stack sizes and how many racks in play can become a factor, but with me being the bank I don't usually put out more than 3 racks of 5s, 2 racks of ones, 1 rack of fracs and then some 25s/100s as needed.

The game being played become a big factor here. Scarney is a staple at our game. We don't yet play many triple board games or any derailment. We also don't play much SOHE or SHESHE.

I got a 51 inch round table that is comfortable for 6 & 7, it get max / tight at 8 people.

I will go for 54 - 56 inch among your choice for 8, 60 inch is way too big and hard to push the pot in the middle

It'll be fine for the community cards, it's just more restrictive on the space in front of each player. You have a pie shaped area in front of you instead of a square/rectangle.

No option for 56, so I went with “Other”.

I have a 55 and 60. You can fit 8 at the 55 but you are friendly with your neighbor. Wouldn’t really want to do it with less than that. 60 is very nice for 8. Have no issues with pushing pots or anything else on the 60. Damn near perfect for 8 handed. Could fit in a 9th if needed.

@CraigT78 what's the size of your round tables?
Mine are 56" at the outer edge of the rails.

Edit: you've played on my tables. I vastly prefer them for 6-7 max cash games, but sometimes we have to squeeze an 8th for a tournament. It works, but it's cozy. I have a mix of me sized players, and you sized players.

I'm likely going to go with a 58" table. I know it wasn't one of my choices above but after everyone's gracious feedback I'm going to go a little bit bigger than I originally planned.

Is everyone doing a 5" rail on their table? I'm opting to go without built in cup holders and will use the slide in type of cupholders instead.

I've got a 5" rail but my rail is raised. No drinks near my good table or rail, only on side tables.

My other tables (Barrington, old Durham 48" round) have holders in the rail and have had spills.

6.5" rails on mine, with padding. I LOVE a thicker rail.
