Very cool. Never had one, but have always loved them!

There are some tough choices in this round. This is another one. It was a really tough one for me to decide on. Sorry Dan, but @Leonard won out slightly. Both are great sets (thanks for the surprise sample set btw)

Anyone who hasn't read the Lucky Dog thread, please do. It's a happy and sad read. Love the set @Leonard.

If it means anything, I have 2 custom sets coming to honor my pup, who just happened to be named Lucky.

I've contemplated doing something similar. I've had enough dogs (or MWD's) that I could do an entire set and cover most base colors lol.

Though I am a chipper who naturally loves clay chips, I am also one who has a huge appreciation for ceramics and would never dismiss a ceramic set (specifically, a hybrid set) simply because it isn't clay.

Here are a few reasons why I respect hybrid sets:
  • Label design is essentially the same process as inlay design (less any shaped inlay considerations)
  • There are thousands (millions?) of colors to choose from, as opposed to <100 from a clay chip manufacturer
  • There are thousands of spot patterns/styles/designs to choose from, as opposed to a handful from CPC/Paulson
  • Filler art (design in the rolling edge) is a real thing and is considered in spot progression - not a consideration for clay
  • Making changes to a hybrid set requires Adobe Illustrator skills - fortunately, @p5woody is the best at committing to the cause
  • Dealing with "Amy", "Susie" etc from China/Hong Kong is a challenge. There's a language barrier and they are like 12 hours ahead of US Eastern Time so communication is a pain point.
  • Paying via international bank transfer is a pain in the balls
Overall, it is easy to overlook hybrids, but I can say that the design process can take several weeks/months to complete and the results (especially 43mm) are bad ass.
