Roulette and craps hosts (30 Viewers)

It’s plausible that I’ll have a future event dealing craps and/or roulette to 10 players at a time. For the former I’m bumping up my chipset to 300/600/400/300/100/50 total ($1/$5/$25/$100/$500/$1000).

Perhaps even a black-tie event as a nice gimmick. Dealing craps in a tux on a trial run was good fun, really adds to the atmosphere.

Thinking of adding roulette to home game, to mix it up a bit. We all love it when we go to Encore or Foxwoods. Thinking tourney style $50/$100 each for set time etc...You all make great points/ideas in this thread. I'm also thinking 7 max. Where's a decent place to get not dice roulette chips but next step up level to not break the bank? Also what everyone thinking per color, how many chips? how many other bigger denominations also needed you think? Thanks gang. appreciate any info given/advice/tips.

6 or 7 max is good, you start running out of real estate on the table for the chips. I normally do 6 max, and 1 player can play their value chips.

2 racks of each color is enough. If any player starts to "break the bank", then you give them denominated chips.

How many value chips you have depends on the stakes. We do $5k for each player with the roulette chips worth $10 or $25 each which can last them long enough for a tournament.

Thanks for the info, how do run your tourney? Length, a Hour or two hours? But if it’s a set time near the final say 10 minutes people that know their behind, starting making big bets on single numbers to try and take lead? I guess obviously just like in a casino you can bet how you want. Just talking outloud here trying to think of how you and others here run their tourneys .

I do roulette tourney rounds, currently 6 max (plans for 7), and 20 minute duration. Each person starts with 40 chips (value doesn't matter), and they try to spin it up to as many chips as possible for the duration of the round, with strict limits of 20 chips on outside bets and 5 chips on inside bets. If they "break the bank", I keep a record of how many chips over 200 that they have (I have 200 per player/colour), but they can only play with max 200 chips at a time.

I run several elimination rounds, usually 3-4. Final table is top 6 chip stacks of the night to start over with 40 chips each and one final round to determine the winner, who then gets some sort of prize.

I base it on how we want the night to go. Sometimes it's several 30 minute rounds, sometimes we do a single 2 hour round. It depends what else is going on that night as well.

Like allforcharity, we'll put a limit on the bets, min and max. Min 1 chip for inside bets, max 10 chips. Min 5 chips for outside bets, max 20. Putting a max also helps out the dealer since they're also in charge of stacking chips (usually).

And yeah, once the time starts to run out you see players who are behind trying to make up lost ground by betting huge, but that's just part of the game. No different than someone at a casino who's leaving soon and decides to go big or go home.

Rather than having a single winner at the end based on the most chips, I like to do a raffle draw. We give each player 5k in chips to play with at the start of the night, and at the end, they can cash in their chips for raffle tickets per 1000 chips they have (rounded up), then draw for prizes. So if you aren't the clear winner, you still have a chance at a prize but of course the more chips you have, the better your chances.

This works well if you have several tables, so players can move around the room playing at different tables.
