Looks like the edge is softer. Maybe that is just dust though? Does it feel different? Interested to see what happens with more time.

Definitely not dust. There is some soap/water with the media so my guess is the chip is drying out.

Here is the chip after 3 hours, stamp is nearly gone, as is the cross hatching

Woah! That really has an effect! Maybe 3 hours is too long or the media too aggressive? I wonder what it looks like cleaned and oiled. And I wonder if it feels rough or smooth to touch.
