Theoretically there are (were) hundreds of thousands of Rio chips and no doubt us with sets could get burned but the WSOP could only have made so many T500k and up to preserve some security and scarcity…

That is a crazy price.
Idk. Bias take here…

There’s only so many 50mm chips produced by Paulson. And it’s representative of the poker boom. Extremely nostalgic and rare. And sample sets just got flooded into the market without the oversized chips. It actually checks out. Wouldn’t be surprised if the price on these keep goinng up. A majority of them are with set collectors.

Another 50mm chip is the Dunes Bac. Also fetches between $250-$500 and I would guess more PCFers/gamblers are interested with the Rio WSOP than Dunes Bac chips.

Any other 50mm Paulson chips you can think of? Genuine question @upndown…

You shut your mouth when you're talking about oversize dunes!
Off the top of my head, I can't think of others. I've seen some crown singles on eBay that might be 50mm, but they're probably 48mm. And I remember sets of oversized chips that were I think 43mm, 48mm, and 50mm that were made for a casino in asia, maybe thailand or vietnam? But I forget their name, they might have been BCC, and I'm not sure they're 50mm. So yeah, point taken. They're rare.
And I get it - like Ray said I bought one too and had no problem paying more than I'd ever paid for a single because I had to have one. But at $230 or $250, I wouldn't have had to have one. Just me, I'm a cheap bastard, but that's a crazy price.

Like, this one says 48mm, but it might be 50. Was there ever a 48mm plain mold? I don't know.

Confirmed this is a 50mm-i have it.

@TheRealTeddyKGB any other 50mm chips as you collect oversized?
Casino?!? Only 3 that I'm sure of not being home to confirm/remember:

I have a Palms 50mm KILL/OFF button and handful of other 50mm "special event" chips but no denoms on them.

@GamingOre would know more than me.

And for the record YES I need that WSOP 1M chip 🤣

price is somewhat inconsequential if you have all the others.

I personally couldn’t care less about the chips. I don’t follow poker, I’ve never seen these chips before (I’m aware of them faintly as many folks would be of ubiquitous things), I think any/most chip prices are insane.

And I’d still happily pay 230+ for the chip just because my sample is incomplete without it.

So I’d imagine it’s an easy buy for people who have meaning attached.

I’ve sold 48mm Harrah’s NOLA $100k for $300+ on eBay auction starting at $1.00, they had flea bites so didn’t sell here. For ones without and in perfect mint, I’ve sold here for at least $200 or traded with great chips with good value.

Further I’ve sold NOLA $25k at $65 each as a lot of 10 in my latest sales ad.

I compare because I’m assuming the survival amount is the same as NOLA $100k (200) than $25k (1000?). There are much less 50mm WSOP than 39mm and those who only have 39mm sure want them.

Won’t be a surprise given people are more into Rio WSOP than Harrah’s NOLA or Dunes. There are no meanings attached to neither of these casinos for me, except I like Rio chips as I like playing there (not poker nor WSOP).

Lastly I never played at WSOP, not a big poker player so I just bought them from the original guy on eBay for $80-100 just because I like the rainbow Rio logo. Again, like Rio chips in general.

Love the $25 and they still use them!

@BarrieJ3 you’re absolutely right, missing chips in samples = pay 2-5x isn’t unusual for me. Just want to get it done, impatience tax for me plus some chips never show up again.
