I have a 1,000-chip case (shown below from a game this past weekend), and the bottom part that holds the chips in place is no longer adhered to the base of the case. I’m thinking of going with a different solution—maybe one of the clear acrylic cases—but I’m assuming that may not be ideal for transportation.

Anyone have experience with this or suggestions for other potential solutions? Thanks!

Someone far better versed in cases than I am suggested this to me:

Same price (when on sale, which apparently happens a couple times a year) as a cheap 1000 chip case, but super solid/durable. You can tear away the interior foam with ease (no tools needed) to shape it to your chip racks, card setups, buttons, etc.

Way easier to tote and far more secure (especially the clasps/locks) than the aluminum cases. He let me lug a full one around and it felt so much better. I'll be buying these myself and skipping the aluminum moving forward.

Hope that helps

Is the original post essentially this aluminum case with wheels?

I have to travel for one of the games I host and am also in the market for a solution. Is the main problem with these cases holding the chips or the durability of the aluminum part of the case.

It's pretty much the same thing yes.
They hold the chips fine but I would be skeptical of it holding up long term if you'll be transporting them often. You'd be better off with a Versa Birdcage Case. It's more compact and you use your own racks which help distribute & collect chips.
