Just joined ready to purchase first custom set. Made a design almost went with chiplab, read some bad reviews on here about them. Looking to stay around 650 or so for set of 1000 chips. Is this really do-able with custom design? Or looking at more.

Welcome, dude! 732, Monmouth county.

100% doable. That's fine as long as you understand you're in ceramic territory; some people don't like those, they feel different than clay, but they're cheaper and still do the job! I ended up grabbing 1200+ for less than your price and am incredibly happy. Get some samples of cards mold/no mold/sunfly/few other "cheap" chips before you buy so many.

What kind of chips you want to put you labels on? The price range you mentioned could get you some custom card mold ceramic chips from one of the group buys.

Hello and welcome! since you’re looking at a large number of chips, I’d definitely recommend getting some samples to check the sound, feel, etc.

good luck on the hunt!

I’d do the no mold 43mm from Tina based on what I’ve seen. .44 each in the recent Group Buy.

How does the group buy work? I was looking at something similar to these chips. Only recently started looking.

Ceramic is more similar to Borgata?

Custom artwork can still work because shipping is the biggest issue from China; +1000 chips is going to run you +$160 just on shipping costs. In a groupbuy, you share that cost. May or may not be cheaper depending on markup, I ordered mine directly and ate the shipping.

My advice is finding a designer on here to work with. @mattross1313 is my rockstar but I've heard good things about others, just take your time. Get samples of the type of chips first, then get a designer to make what you want, then order.

I pretty much have my design/artwork colors set.

Sure, many people think that, just trying to pump the brakes. Your designs could be perfect, I can't speak to them, but its very convenient having people make sure they're in the correct format for the printers, eh? Make sure they're printed correctly and in the color you want before you get 1000 tiny paperweights that didn't come out well.

Also good to spend a little time on here. Lots of people with regrets after they had their designs set.

Are you sure you need 1000 chips? Many people think they do but they don't. Define your game and number of players and then make your most efficient breakdown of chips. THEN go shopping. Don't spend money where you don't have to.

You might find you only need 600 chips, which means your budget per chip soars to $1. That's Sun-Fly and BR Pro territory with all the fixings.

Welcome to PCF! Exciting decisions on the horizon…best of luck!

If you do end up wanting to get some samples I have a bunch of the various ceramic cards mold sets as samples I was going to list in the classifieds over the weekend.

Stop your nonsense. My 5cent/10cent game might balloon up to $1/2, don't lead them astray.

Yes, currently run a rebuy/add on tourny homegame we avg 35 players, we use the plastic dice chips, with denomination breakdown i have 1100 chips but use roughly 900 or so starting stack is 20.
Chips 10k starting stack
6-50
7-100
4-500
2-1000
1-5000

You'll find that most of us for T10K stack like to use:
12x T25
12x T100
5x T500
6x T1000
which is 200BB at starting blinds 25/50

I would plan for 40 players, and rounding up to have extras to replace losses/damage and some higher denoms for colour-up
500x T25
500x T100
250x T500
300x T1000
50x T5000 (or more) for rebuys/top-ups

You will in fact need 1600+ chips. Time to increase your budget. This is the Way of All Chippers.

Welcome to PCF !
custom ceramics can turn really great.

Welcome to the forum! You will need a little bit more than 1000chips to account for 35 players with addon and rebuys. I would get some Ceramic samples and China Clay samples and decide if you want to get a custom sticker on China Clay or raise your budget a little bit for the Custom Ceramic. I would suggest to you to go the ceramic way, they are fun and I love them for tournaments, players also know the shuffleing sound from some mayor poker broadcasts that use Ceramic chips.

There are ofcourse many other options but those all require a bigger budget.

If you tell us how many rebuys and addon's you have on avg and how much chips they get you. Then we can propose a breakdown that works for you :)

This was my ideal breakdown for chipset, 1025 chips total it comes to. Very similar to what i have now in plastic chips. Right now avg tournament we use about 930k in chips, total ordering value would be 1.28million. Figured thats enough even of we have 15-20 more buy-ins/rebuys and coloring up the 50-100 chips.

PM me your email, I have a sheet document for this calculation that I can share with you if you want.
PS, I would also reccomend changing the 50chip to 25chip and the 10.000 chip to 25k chip to add flexibility.

We do tournaments. Avg 35 players with rebuys/add ons.
We started with tournaments 20 years ago. Now we play ring games twice weekly. Full tables and wait lists.

Back in our tourney day ms the Bubble boys/girls and beyond started clamoring for cash games.

We’ll still consider a monthly tourney but everyone is in the game right up until cash out in the ring games.

Nice turnout you have.

Its a poker series i run, points based with 10% of nightly pot going into championship pot, 1 game a month, after 12 games we play the championship table. We are at the end of season 2 started with an avg of like 15 per game this season avg was 32ish with hitting 36 twice(we max out at 40 seats havent hit it yet) most rather play cash at the casino in our game, and alot of new learning players. So the low buy in tournaments work perfect for us.

Wow. Nice set up.

Gotta admit though I’d turn to quite nefarious activities if didn’t bide my time with 8+ poker sessions a month.

I played in league styled series a few years ago before I got away from tournament play. It was fun.

Good for you for meeting the poker needs of such a large group.

You’ll enjoy this group and forum. Weigh in often as I’m sure you’ve got plenty to add to conversations on several topics.

Outside of this we all regularly take trips to the casino, 1 hrs drive we have like 10 different options between AC/Philly/ and Bethelham PA area. Its just a fun series drink, hang out watch sports. And win some money.
