For long-term storage of clay chips, do most of you prefer acrylic cases, chip racks, or something else? I’m trying to avoid anything that might damage edges or stamps over time.

Thanks in advance!

Long term, all my clays are in Warneke-style boxes.

All ceramics in Justin clamshell plastic racks.

Keep away from direct sunlight and excessive heat. Some people don’t like to stack in open racks because of concerns that over time a small indention will occur in the lower racked chips. So they prefer the covered racks (as do I).

Stack 'em to the sky. Works for the WSOP!

(seriously, way too many folks freak the F out about this. Heat is bad, and always will be. UV light from the sun is awful. Inside and in a temperature controlled environment is going to be perfectly fine for 99.44% of people. I'm coming up on 19 years of custom ASM (CPC) chips kept in racks like above in acrylic cages in the Arizona desert and haven't seen a single damaged edge.)

(P.S. Intro physics/mechanics experiment if you'd like. Stop for a moment and consider how much weight is being transferred to the bottom most chip in any of the racks in the photo above.

Short answer, unless the racks are misaligned, the actual force on the bottom most chip is a whole lot less than you might think. If it were a big problem, most of the chips that made it out of the Rio in the recent flood would be damaged from the 10.5 months of storage they saw in the cage there when tucked away like this.)
