I just made my table and got my table felt cloth from Casino Supply. I think the quality is ok, but I feel like there may be even smoother options. Any recommendations that I should look into, that are cheaper than the custom options?

I would seriously consider a table topper. It’s what I put on my table that I built and my players rave about it.
Your table toppers are definitely an option I am considering! The raves seem well-deserved. Are there any differences between these and doing felt (besides being able to change the table topper easily)? I'm guessing these toppers are smoother than what I'm using now.

Guaranteed to be smoother. You’ll get more padding than felt, and you can interchange them to your point. You could also install them permanently under the rails if you chose to do so. I have had some folks do this with great results (example)

And can I put it over existing padded surface, or is it best to place it directly on plywood?

The toppers are definitely smoother than speed cloth. I just changed mine out a couple of days ago, and the difference is very noticeable.

Yeah, mine feels more abrasive than I'd like. Do you use the custom toppers?
I have and they’re very nice. Card slide on them very well and they have a lot of cushion. They are very nice if you don’t want to go through the hassle of putting on a felt with staples and stretching it and going through the entire process.
