Poker Rooms have reopened (kind of) in Florida (1 Viewer)

In FLA that could be a negative but in Canada if you could play poker AND get a tan...that would be awesome!
The problem is you Canucks don't have any tolerance to UV because of the three hours of sunlight you get each year, so you'd likely sit down at a UV-sanitized table and instantly turn into a smoking pile of ash. Then I'd shove on your big blind every orbit and slowly stack you.

USA! USA! USA!

Hey @Tommy, can we start putting these between each post?

Oops, that last post veered into Coronavirus memes territory. To bring it back to Florida poker, I just got a text from the host of a local raked game that I play somewhat regularly. They're trying to get a game going tonight.

I politely declined, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't tempted.

My 5/5 PLO group is itching to play :bigbucks: but I said I am waiting to see a declining # of Covid-19 cases after the state has been "open" for at least 3 weeks or more.

I heard from a local poker friend that she was told Hard Rock Tampa is opening THIS wed, including poker. Trying to get confirmation

Coming from a medical person, that sounds like a good benchmark. Now if only Iowa would do something about the meat processing plants, . . .

@Schmendr1ck I believe @Anthony Martino has hacked your account. Check your password settings.

It's sad, my wife's family is from Denison and they are refusing to release the amount of positive cases, publicly. They are going to stop testing for some reason while the town's positive rate climbs at 100-300%/day.

@Anthony Martino I may have missed it but are you planning on playing ASAP or are you going to wait it out some more?

FROM A POKER ROOM SUPERVISOR:

Including poker. :). Plexiglass tables and 6 max. Not all tables in the room will be open. Not sure if players/dealers will need to wear masks and/or gloves.

I'm down to play. Not a huge fan of 6 max PLO, but I can put up with it. It would work fine for our mixed game which was 6-8 handed depending on the game called

Those Degens all have $1,200 stimulus checks they are itching to bet with 3 outs against me!

For some reason? LOL! Nice layup but this isn't the Politics forum so I'll let it go. My fault -- didnt mean to open that door.

So sorry to hear about Denison. Hoping for the best for your wife's family.

I get it, I didn't want to go there either. They got what they asked for though, the meat packing plant in that town has been mistreating the workers for years, now something has come that has worldwide attention and the repercussions if plants like that close. Maybe this will teach companies to not treat their employees like garbage.

Got notice that Tunica is opening next Thursday with a limit of 3 per gaming table. Need to find out from the floor if that includes poker. I love 3 handed poker as much as anybody and consider it probably my strongest game, but I certainly won't be going except to maybe cash in the piles of chips I have sitting around the house.

It's so ridiculous they think limiting the number of people per table is going to have this groundbreaking effect, good grief. So much fucking nonsense coming from so many different companies out there. God I'm on tilt and the casino isn't even open yet!

If we're trying to maintain a minimum six foot distance between players, we should really be playing HU4ROLLZ.

I've elected instead to play buzzed 0.10/0.25 on Bovada tonight - almost forgot I had nearly $400 in my account there. So far I'm on my first buy-in and up $7.62 - calling the @CraigT78 juju in advance for when I 5-bet shove 83o and spike trips on the flop.

@abby99 and @zo121179 my fellow Iowa peeps: keep in mind that testing is ramping up at the same time as the restrictions are loosening. There is naturally going to be a spike in positive cases, but that doesn’t mean hospitalization, serious sickness, or even sickness for that matter (although I suspect that most people who feel well won’t get tested—just speculation), and it doesn’t mean the new cases are wholly due to the loosening.

I forgot how weird low stakes online can play sometimes. Clearly these guys have never played poker in Florida, or I'd be raking in the quarters. Currently two-tabling and stuck about five bucks.

Limiting the amount of players and using plexiglass has NOTHING to do with actually protecting the players or dealers. It only serves to create the IMPRESSION of safety, to give the customer the confidence to enter the building, sit down and spend money.

Az is opening. Looks like they’re giving it a good try. Heavy cleaning and lots of plexiglass. No word on Poker. Here’s a look inside.

Can’t think of a good reason to enter a Casino right now. Hopeful the home game can come back soon though.

Only way to stay truly safe is to wait till there's a vaccine. Going to a casino would create a huge risk, as there are gambling addicts who would go even if they were sick and consequently contaminate everything and endanger lives. A lot of these "safety measures" are probably mostly for show. If someone goes to the casino who is sick, others will get sick. Believe me, I want to get back in the poker room, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

And these are the rules of the "Play It Safe" program mentioned above:

  • Guests are asked to adhere to social distancing protocols while waiting to enter.
  • All incoming guests will be added to a guest registry and their identity will be stored as a record of their visit.
  • All guests will be required to wear a mask or other face covering during their visit.
  • Temperature screening of guests takes place upon entering the facility.
  • An on-site Clean Team has been created, and its members are equipped with Ecolab® multi-surface cleaner and disinfectant to conduct ongoing sanitization of all surfaces. They will help to protect guests by dispensing hand sanitizer and spot cleaning at the tables and other surfaces on request.
  • Dealers will have hand sanitizer spray bottles at each table, and tables will be sanitized after a game breaks. Patrons will be required to sanitize their hands when joining a table. Chairs will be sanitized after a guest departs a game.
  • Playing cards and poker chips will be rotated on a schedule as recommended by experts in infectious disease control.
  • Social distancing protocols are in place throughout the facility.
  • Hand-sanitizing stations have been added at the entrance and throughout the facility.
  • Some service offerings may be limited or unavailable to help maintain safe social distancing and health and safety guidelines.
  • As always, no smoking will be permitted within the facilities, and designated smoking areas are maintained outside of the buildings.
