Curious what a few of your *must have* songs are on your poker night playlist. Looking to add to mine and would love to hear the different suggestions from the community.

Here are a few of mine -

"That was a crazy game of poker" - O.A.R
'All Along the Watchtower" - Hendrix
"Money" - Pink Floyd
"Even Flow" - Pearl Jam
"Brass Monkey" - Beastie Boys

playlists.....to much work. I stream Sirius Radio, Channel 40 or 41. Usually 41. Channel for is more death metal and most of the group isn't into it.

Ha! Thanks for your input  I also usually just stream, but it always ends up being "Hey - play THIS song" - So I figured I'd build a playlist over time.

@Azcat streams Google Play. Last time at his house he was having people pick songs. After my selection I doubt he'll do that again.

I looked for one yesterday on Spotify and found nothing. I'm in the same thoughts of looking for songs.

Hey Big Spender is one of my favourites and another one bites the dust

Poker themed music = hard pass. Usually just a Spotify/Pandora playlist, 80/90s rap is a big hit

I usually just pick a Spotify playlist. The last couple of weeks it's been 90s rock. Good nostalgic music for my crowd of mid-30 year olds.

very hard to make everyone happy. We always have one or two people who complain about the music selection. Usual the host gets to pick the music and everyone else goes along with it with occasional requests towards the end of the night. But still a hassle. I looked on Spotify and couldn't find any good poker playlists, so I built a few from scratch spanning various musical tastes, recognizing that the complaints will not stop as everyone has a different musical taste.

I'm an old music geek, so I'm still attached to physical media (even, gasp, vinyl!). So, I just load up a multi disc changer. I try to keep it marginally acceptable and not too berserk. Last night included Green Day, Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, Misfits, Gaslight Anthem, Dinosaur Jr and Nine Inch Nails. Those old coots made fun of me: "This is not extreme at all ... he's gone pop." They will NOT have the same remarks next time. Suggestions? Septic Flesh, you say? Don't own any, but that's worth consideration. Been meaning to get some Pig Destroyer albums for a while ...

I've gotten positive feedback at various times on everything from Fleetwood Mac to Firewater to old punk mix discs and negative feedback on reasonably non-confrontational stuff like Sisters of Mercy (along with just about anything with elements of harsh noise). I'm just gonna give up on trying to predict their response and play whatever I feel like.

You must go crazy saying

"Hey john! its on you..." "Oh... Huh.. oh, ok i'll call" "No no you cant call, Dave raised.." "HUH? What? Who raised?" "Oh its dave... I wasn't watching, Can i take the call back cause i wouldn't have called Dave if i knew he raised?" etc...

Not much of an issue. We have TVs on opposite ends of the room so no one has to be turned around to see. Most of the issues with any home game (food/phones/action/cleanliness/etc) are all about the culture set by the host and players. If action is on you and your not paying attention the players will be all over you. After the 2nd time of that peer pressure guys know what the expectations are and don’t want to be “that guy”.

you demanded to have your iphone hooked up to bluetooth, so you tell me, i heard a lot of spice girls

Its was so bad. I thought it was "Kids Pop" where they change the lyrics for more age appropriate audience.

sorry your tastes are only songs played with a banjo and a harmonica, other instruments do exist now in the 21st century

I LOVE the mandolin. Dont care much for the banjo....

Unless its a song about you :sneaky:

Not poker themed music - a playlist for poker night. All inclusive music - something for everyone.

The host can never win with the music - so I don't bother. I play everything, from Wilson Phillips to Nine Inch Nails to Zac Brown Band to Dr. Dre to Katy Perry to Sex Pistols to Joan Baez to the Bee Gees to Yo Yo Ma to System of a Down. If anyone complains, I use my remote and the song automatically will repeat and the volume goes up.

I read this about 5 times trying to figure out why John can't call dave's raise.
