Hey, I’m pretty sure this is the correct section for this question.

I’m starting to host regular games with my friends and the folding chairs and patched together setups aren’t really working for us anymore.

I was wondering if anyone had good suggestions or ideas for decent chairs for a game. Nothing expensive, just decent chairs with good backs.

Most people trying to fill that criteria search FB marketplace for used banquet chairs made by Gasser. You can search those terms here to see threads about them and to get an idea of what they look like.

Marketplace will be your cheapest. Banquet chairs, stacking chairs, church chairs, all good search terms. Depends how lucky you get and how much time you’re willing to wait, a nice Gasser chair can be had from $10-$35 a piece. These chairs usually run a couple hundred if bought new.

+1 on searching FB Marketplace for banquet chairs. I found 25 or so of these for $6 per. Not Gasser, but similar. Varying cosmetic condition, but all were at least suitable for a seedy poker room. :D

Fellow Canuck @Jeevansluck worth every penny. Upgrade is equivalent to a proper table for the game.

Ours are holding up well after what's gotta be close to a couple years now ... or one really long year lol

Thank you for this, I have been looking for decently priced options with no arms or fold up arms and this fits the bill, just ordered 9 of these for my home game!
I think you'll really like them! The company has great customer service too. I had one chair where the bracket was broken, and they sent out a replacement within a day.

The Hercules used to be a popular option around here, but it's been a few years since I've ordered any and it looks like prices have gone up quite a bit. According to my old Amazon invoice I paid $22/ea back in the day (with free shipping), but it looks like those days are over, and the price has doubled.

Maybe you can hope/wait for a Black Friday deal...

I bought these Amazon Church Chairs a couple weeks ago, and people love them. Definitely an upgrade from my old folding chairs. They have a wide 21'' comfy seat, can handle up to 800lbs (A LOT), and are stackable. They also look and feel indestructible.

About ~$70 each.

These look great for the price! If you don't mind, how large is your table? Since these chairs are on the wider side I'm concerned that I might not be able to squeeze 10 around my 8' oval.

FWIW, I have ten of these and don’t particularly care for them. They’re not especially comfortable, but that’s not why I dislike them. They’re super wide and my table that easily seats ten plus a dealer with other chairs suddenly feels crowded with nine total. While I generally prefer playing 7/8 handed over a full table, it’s kind of annoying to be forced. I wish I’d bought the slightly skinnier option. And I’m 6’2”, if that means anything.

I limit my games to 8-max so we have enough space on a 7' Barrington.

I have a feeling you could fit 9 players, 10 might be cutting it close.

I have a 8ft by 4ft table. I can fit 9 pretty comfortably. I haven't tried 10, but it would be a tight fit.
