We've got ourselves another house mold doing well in one of these votes. The Aladdin $20 house mold actually won its bracket, the first non-THC chip ever to win any of these silly little contests that I run. The $1000 chip final vote is here, Dunes Golf Course $1000 cash 39mm house mold versus Starlite Birdie Cruise $1000 cash 43mm IHC. Two titans!

These are stellar chips. Top 1% all timers easy. My vote came down to the history behind the chips. The story of the Dunes and its chips is far more rich and interesting than that of the Starlites, which was probably some rusty boat floating around where all the passengers got Legionnaires disease. (I kid, I kid)

Early votes are favoring Dunes 2-1. I've heard that the Starlite Syndicate, however, has rigged some voting machines and bribed some vote counters. After we all go to bed tonight, several votes will "appear" and favor Starlite 100%.

I would have spite-voted against the starlight anyway, since it looks so much like so many other $1ks. But I think it’s lack of words is a fair criticism. Casino chips have words on them. Name and location. This one doesn’t, and it’s mildly unsettling.
(With apologies to those Foxwoods chips I loved so well.)

Yeah I personally don’t care for that spot pattern. Probably just because it’s so overexposed. But somebody once told me that I shouldn’t hold it against the spot pattern that’s it’s been copied so much. So Dunes it is!

I agree on the pattern used too much… but how many chips have used the pattern in this way with 3 spot colors? Harbor lights $500 is one. Any others?

Edit. That's the only 2 I managed to find find.
The 2v2w is also a very common spot pattern. Less common is the 3 colour spot variety, however, there are more than 2 examples of this.

Personally, I like the Starlight's minimalistic logo-only inlay. Don't need any word clutter if you're using them in the cruise ship's gaming rooms.

The only issue I have with the Dunes chip is that stupid golf course graphic. Very possibly designed by @BonScot's grandpa.

It's a bit of a blowout, but keep the votes rolling in anyway. I think the result is a little surprising, too, but maybe having zero words on your inlay is a detriment at some point.
