Kind of hard to search for it in this thread but From really scratches my itch. It's like Lost where the Others are 5 levels up. It's not a horror-series but it has horror elements to it. And plenty of mystery. They just started shooting season 4 so it probably won't air for a year from now which is what I really hate about these new shows.

You see one season and then wait 18-24 months for the next season. By that point any cliffhangers (and the story for that matter) at the end of last season is long forgotten and you don't really care any more. In fact, I often drop watching the new season just to avoid the extraordinary long break until the next season start, if there even is a new season.

Did all the studios suddenly forget to plan or what's going on?

Every episode Boyd is like:

"Woah, hey, look....listen, it's ok, WE.......are gonna be ok"

Really dislike Tabithas character. When she's with Victor in the caves and he's telling her they need to be quiet and she's being all loud and shit asking nonstop questions. Like, STFU bitch, you're gonna get us killed!

Donnas my favorite character, has some real good one-liners and doesn't take no guff, but also shows her weakness when leaning on Boyd for support.

I didn't like how they punked out Acosta either (the lady cop that shows up in the town). She was in a frightening and impossible situation, and the writers use it to try and paint her as a "trigger-happy cop" and Boyd freaks out at her when she's trying to be apologetic, reasonable and helpful.

Just felt forced to try and emulate all the hate for cops these days. And in the facebook fan group for the show, unfortunately a LOT of viewers eat that up and love to hate on her for it. But I think she got a bad rap.

I just finished the second season and absolutely love it so far.

My wife didn’t make it through 3 episodes of the first season though, too much anxiety for her.

Did you all watch Shameless? My wife couldn’t handle the disfunction. But she likes The Bear.

It’s on my list, but not on hers. It’s hard to get her to commit to a drama. I saw about a season and a half back around when it was released, enough to remember the characters and dynamic but not specific storylines.

Also with that many seasons, it keeps getting pushed back by some shows with a shorter duration that are easier for me to get through on my limited TV time these days.

Shameless was fun for awhile, but then started getting a little TOO out there. Every person the main cast encountered were sexually attracted to that fucked up family, whether it was the young, Helen Hunt lookalike that had the hots for Frank for some reason, or the lesbians who were into Debbie. It was just a bit much and too ridiculous and we tuned out at that point.

We both love shameless. Sure, it’s a bit out there at times and not everything works but it’s definitely one of our favorite shows.
 
I tried Ted Lasso a while back and didn’t like it (2-3 episodes). Gave it another chance now and I was clearly mistaken, it’s fking awesome!

I enjoyed it initially, but at some point it got TOO ridiculous

My recollection is around the time an older Lesbian was hot for Debbie and a dying blonde that looked like a younger Helen Hunt was somehow into Frank

Totally understandable, there are definitely some bumps in the road. We loved the characters too much to not continue.
 
Some newer shows Jenn and I have recently enjoyed:


High Potential - starring Kaitlin Olsen (Dee from Always Sunny). Her previously cancelled show "The Mick" was a blast (despite terrible trailers, but glad we tuned in). Here she plays a struggling single mom with a high intellect/observation skill. She gets hired on as a consultant to assist police in solving crimes. James Roday (star of the hilarious tv show Psych back in the day) has directed a number of episodes and we've enjoyed the series. Also features Judy Reyes who played Carla in Scrubs and later in the season Steve Howey (Kevin from Shameless) shows up in a key role.

The Institute - based on the work of Stephen King. Children are being kidnapped by a shadowy government organization to experiment on them for telekinesis and telepathy (but there's more at play discovered as the season progresses). It's kind of like The Breakfast Club if there was a LOT more violence and mystery. Has some decently known actors like Mary-Louise Parker, Julian Richings (played Death in Supernatural) and Ben Barnes (Chronicles of Narnia/Westworld/The Punisher/Shadow & Bone)

Your Friends & Neighbors - John Hamm (Mad Men) loses his high-paying job, but to keep up appearances starts a life of crime, stealing from his rich neighbors. Also has a number of great supporting cast in Amanda Peet, Olivia Munn, Mark Tallman, Hoon Lee and Corbin Bernsen.
 
I'm about to wrap up Slow Horses now. Definitely enjoyed it. Since I'm rage-quitting apple TV in a month (due to raising their subscription prices) I'm trying to get through as much as I can on that platform.
So far I've watched:
Silo
Ted Lasso
Severance
Shrinking

I’m excited to check out the new Vince Gilligan series, Pluribus. I think it premieres on the 7th, at least over here.

I just finished Black Bird. It’s a limited series, only six episodes, but I really liked it. Paul Walter Hauser is amazing in this, he plays Larry Hall, and won the best actor Emmy for it.
It’s also Ray Liotta’s final role.

Tehran was good, but we didn’t get the latest series in the U.S.
The Morning Show is great and keeps getting better.
I’ve heard Drops of Gold and Pachinko are good
 
So we started some new (to us) shows:

Silo - one episode in I'm enjoying it. My wife feels like it'll be predictable so she isn't sold on it yet.

Pushing Daisys - wife needed something a bit more comedic after too many overly-serious shows. One episode in it's been enjoyable

Andor - everyone sang its praises. But we watched the first episode and it just fell flat. The main character was just so fucking dry and boring, nothing held our interest.

Severance - Neither of us were big fans of the actor who's got the lead, but one episode in and we're interested in seeing where it leads.


We also have Stranger Things and Fallout returning soon, so looking forward to those. And still need to check out Dark Matter and Shrinking (with Jason Segal and Harrison Ford)

Stick with it, I liked season 2 even better than season 1.
With this show, I felt like, "Finally, Star Wars grew up". The Boba Fett series was an utter embarassment.

I really liked For All Mankind, but I guess you have to like space to enjoy it. It's a series where the russians won the race to the moon and how the world could've been (not apolyptic). It's 4 seasons / 40 episodes though so maybe not ideal for you. :D

I'm really into scifi alien / space travel things so Invasion is great (3 seasons / 30 episodes). I've somehow missed that S3 was out so yay.

Murderbot (1 season / 10 episodes) was fun, but again scifi and nothing like the book if you've read it.

I'm also a big Silo fan but I've also read all the books. Luckily it was so long ago so I don't know what to expect when watching it but keep getting ah right!-moments. Same writer also wrote Beacon 23 that isn't on Apple AFAIK. I enjoyed it but not anyone else it would seem, so it was cancelled after 2 seasons / 16 episodes. It's a single novel consisting of 5 short stories so might be worth a read instead.
