So I just read half the latest thread lamenting how this place has gone downhill. I’m new so I don’t know shit but I can only imagine it must have been awesome b/c this is still the best place on the internet. How can I tell? Here’s the latest example:
A couple of months ago
@kaimat was selling some CPCs with black cats on them. My 10-year old loves cats and misses their black cat a lot and collects poker chips so I asked did he have an extra that he could pretty please sell me? The predictable reply? “What’s your kid’s favorite color?” He wouldn’t take my money.
On Friday he messages me and can I go buy a $300 chess set off craigslist for him and mail it to him? Well, of course: what PCF’r wouldn’t?
So I show up to buy the chess set and the guy is like “so how do you know this feller that he trusts you with $300?” And I’m like “Oh, of course he trusts me, I know him from... uh... an... Internet forum...”.

I literally didn’t realize how strange that sounded until it was halfway out of my mouth.
Needless to say the guy thought we were both living in some weird alternate universe where near-strangers immediately trust each other.
And guess what? We are.
Here’s what crossed my mind as I was sweating the most careful packing job of my life trying to make sure those chess pieces arrived perfect:
I don’t watch the news. I don’t frequent any other parts of the internet. I quit Facebook because it made me angry every day. I live in my little bubble.
And I’m glad that PCF is part of that little bubble.
