Paulson TH&C indentification and amount produced. (2 Viewers)

Yes, this is a very useful thread, and glad to see it revived.

The question (which someone recently posed elsewhere) about quantities seems to be impossible to answer. The standard reply is “millions,” but that doesn’t really tell us much.

I wonder specifically about how many home sets GPI/Paulson really sold on the solid, hotstamped Starburst and/or monogrammed TH&C mold(s). It may be more in the hundreds of thousands for all I know.

At this point, I suspect most of these are either (a) already in the hands of members of this board or (b) waiting to be found by random people who will discover them in the attic or garage of a relative who died.

I didnt see the 36 mm H&C mold listed anywhere (sorry if I missed it).

Does it have a name? Looks like every other hat and cane alternates, AHC?

Nice write-up, sleepypiggly!

You also forgot the 8th Paulson mold: the card pip mold, commonly referred to as 'suits'. First used on the Pharaoh's Club no-denom home chips, later used for Paulson's World TH&C home chips. Also used to produce Private Cardroom, Avalon Club, High Roller, Grand Cardroom, and other semi-custom hot-stamps for ApachePokerChips.

The mold contains four sets of card suits (spade, diamond, club, heart) with each set separated by a single Hat and Cane with right-facing cane.

Sorry for bringing this old post back up.

But is this card pip or suits mold ever been produced again? Like as real casino chips?

Since I've got a single yellow 1k Private Cardroom chip, I am totally crazy about this mold design.

I was under the impression that THC is its own mold, that is not the case? So does THC just refer to any paulson chip with a top hat and cane?

Not exactly. When people around here say THC, they’re usually referring to Paulson chips that are either :
Hat and Cane, short cane version (SCV)
Hat and Cane, long cane version (LCV)
Both (SCV on one side of the chip, LCV on
the other side - why? Who knows. But
it’s a common GPI Paulson chip)

They all look the same to the untrained eye. And there is also a version produced by Christy & Jones prior to Paulson acquiring the mold which also looks the same but is subtly different.

The card pip mold was only used for non-casino chips manufactured and sold for the home market. I suspect it was initially made for Trademark Poker, and was last sold by Apache before GPI halted all non-casino chip sales.

The 39mm lammer mold (no-markings) was later briefly used by GPI for promotional chips sold under the Gemaco brand to distributors; at least two big orders (plus a few smaller custom sets) made it into PCFer hands -- the PCF Tournament set (available here) and the Monaco set sold by Apache.

Good read - no sticky icky somewhere? BBS style.
