I'm new to collecting poker chips and I just got a small set of paulsons. I have a question regarding them, is it normal after shuffling them in your hands for a while to have the paint rub onto your fingers? and does this happen with all Paulsons/clays.

Thanks in advance

I’m going to say…possibly. Paulsons aren’t painted in the literal sense. The compound/formula, unbeknownst to me, is colored that way. Same with the spots. You can dig the spots right out of the base as a separate color.

That said, many times, I’ve gotten too aggressive with Magic Eraser, while cleaning dirty chips, and some “color” has rubbed off.

So it’s entirely possible. I’ve NEVER experienced it during shuffling, or handling. Only when I went with too much chemical (or melamine in my case)

Might help to post some pic of the chips and the pics of the color transfer chips.

Certain color are known to be prone to color transfer but most are not

I’ve never had that happen. (I own about 5,000 Paulsons, both THCs and RHCs of varying ages.)

Were these mint? Had you cleaned them with anything prior to handling? Did you have anything on your hands (sanitizer, cream, etc.) which might have interacted with the clay? Were they room temperature?

It happens, yeah. I've noticed it several times while shuffling Mirage's $1. But only with this color specifically.

Blaze Orange comes off a bit. I haven't noticed it on my skin, but a quick rub with a paper towel turns the paper yellow. It does seem to rub off on the other chips, though. Some of the blue spots seem a little green/turquoise, which could easily be from rubbing against other chips.

Same with blue Noir 10s. They bled onto everything. Other chips, felt, fingers, you name it.
