If you can't find a home for the RW 1s, I can return them for you if anyone can get them to me for 110 or less ...

Sorry for all the disappointed of this sale.

I will give the different lots to the people who were the fastest, on the wire, or to contact me by MP.

I don’t have a dog in the fight, but this right here is why dibs are a load of BS. If you call dibs, you just bought it. If you are allowed to release dibs, why should calling dibs be honored at all?
That rule should only apply then, to a listing where there seller has specified "dibs in the thread only".

My point is that calling dibs isn’t enforceable anyway. I.e. the person can release dibs and be out nothing. So whether the seller puts that or not is irrelevant.

I think it's a matter of respect to one another buying. Also, some of us dibs things because they are a must have, and occasionally dont take the time to find out where the seller is from, or in some cases dib before a price or details are listed as the ad is being edited as it goes up. So occasionally, one releases dibs due to certain circumstances. As long as the seller has not contacted them for payment or they are not delaying a sale by not paying and or releasing dibs after payment has been requested, I dont think I see the harm in it.

Basically, dibs only protects the buyer. The seller may or may not have a sale. So what’s the point?

If the seller has a bunch of potential buyers right away, I should think they should have a PM bidding war. That would be most fair to the seller to counteract the dibs loophole.

You’re making my point. You don’t take the time to determine all of the details regarding the sale, yet you expect your dibs to trump all. I just think it’s a load of poo. It’s just a race to see who can type and hit enter the fastest.

Totally understand your point on this. I got a bit more information on the seller/clarification on a question.

Yeah exactly. Fastest usually wins. The rest can be figured out later. I'm pretty sure noone reads the fine print, and if they do, whatever they were after is already gone

I wasn’t targeting you (or anyone) in particular. I see this “release dibs” all the time. I just think you either want to buy or you don’t. I don’t get it and I think it’s unfair to the seller.

I’m not even a small time player on these forums, so if this system works for you guys, then have at it. I just think it’s a weird way to conduct business.

Dibs can go either way IMO but where you really lost me was saying that the fairest method of dealing on here is silent/private auctions. Sure it’s “fair” to the seller but absolutely no one else and can be easily manipulated and abused.

Not reading the fine print on a purchase of hundreds or thousands of dollars isn’t the sellers problem, though. It shouldn’t be a race. If the seller posts an item for sale, and finds out they have multiple people who want to buy it, they should be able to contact those potential buyers for additional bids. Capitalism, baby.
