Was just rewatching Casino Royale (2006) for the millionth time and noticed just how many smaller poker games foreshadow the big game.

Not all of these games have their chips shown up close but the Ocean Club game, where Bond wins the Aston, does. The denoms around the edge remind me of some Matusi design, but folks say the originals were made by B&G:

According to the link below the chips were never officially replicated and were only sold at the 50 Years of Bond auction:

So, now for the fun stuff: have these ever been replicated by a PCF member, perhaps as a Chinese ceramic? I’m sure a faux hot stamp would do an adequate job but to my eyes, the movie chips look like they had a textured inlay (are textured inlays a thing or am I imagining this?). Noticed a thread created by @allforcharity a couple years ago but as far as I can tell, Ocean Club chips were not produced.

If nobody has done it before, I think this might be a bang-up no mold ceramic set (even if that means going the faux hot stamp route). Naturally I’d gravitate toward high denoms to stay faithful to the movie, and just use it as a tourney set. Maybe it’ll even get some support from the community!

I’ve never done customs before so I’m open to recommendations for a community member who would create the artwork for a set with 5 denoms:
$100 and $500 replicated straight from the film with little to no changes
$1k, $5k and probably a $25k - new designs staying faithful to the existing pattern

I did think about this a while back as I love Casino Royale, but never did anything with it. Would be a great concept!

Just got a message that there is a parcel for me at the post office so they'll be here tomorrow I guess

Literally had 2 minutes to get pics on the way to work.
Please excuse crappy mobile phone pics.
Will take better ones when I have a chance.

Originally the seller was only selling the 4 chips you see here but I managed to persuade him to sell the others that he had.
The rest are still enroute

I’d really like to see good close-up pics of the chips you got from a few different angles, but right now they look like the ceramic replicas as show below.

The replicas seem to have a slightly textured face that doesn’t quite reach the edge, and the center is just printed instead of having a decal. Also the inner ring denomination font does not match the one shown on the actual BG chips.

Agreed, from the close up provided, it looks ceramic, and not an inlay. Although it doesn’t look to have the edge alignment/edge slope printing issues found on cheap ceramics.

Is that a ceramic injection dimple?

If you have any other B&Gs, you’ll know instantly if they’re ceramic or B&G.

Here’s a real B&G close-up. You can see the inlay edge (and the material under it). The different colored inserts have definitively sharp lines as they’re different pieces of plastic.

Really hope I’m wrong and those are the real deal.

Sorry about your mother @Alexeberlin

I took a look-see on eBay and believe I found the source of the chips (thundersnowllc). Unfortunately their picture confirms that the chips are indeed ceramic replicas. They didn’t exactly claim the chips were from the movie, but didn’t indicate otherwise either. :cautious:

But seriously…. Asking $100 for a single ceramic chip, implying it’s from the film, and no description to clarify it’s a replica… that’s awful at a minimum. How do they have 100% positive feedback?

Seriously though, I just won 7 single chips of this sellers auctions last night. Starting bids were all $1.99. All 7 were combined and shipped for $3.99 and are already on their way.

Yeah I’m sure they sell what they show, ship fast and well packed. But their pricing seems to be all over the place, for example they have previously sold another replica One & Only chip for as low as $1 (so asking $100 is pretty ridic). Know what you’re buying and you’ll be fine.

Looks more like the buyers are all over the place. As was said, let the buyer beware. Can't blame an entrepreneur for trying to maximize profits.
