I am planning a 30 person MAX tourney set. I have been reading a lot of the breakdown threads on the site. Here is what I came up as a draft breakdown.

T10000 starting stack 12/12/5/6.
Re-buys for the first four rounds (5-6 hour game) using 5/1 T1000/T5000
Color up T25/T100 with T1000s.

T25 - 360
T100 - 360
T500 - 160
T1000 - 380
T5000 - 120
T25000 - 40
Bounty - 60
????? - 20
1500

Please let me know if I have lost my mind

What would the +/- of the above compared to the below OCD compliant breakdown that @BGinGA gave in an older thread:

T25 - 300
T100 - 300
T500 - 200
T1000 - 300
T5000 - 200
T25000 - 100
1400

Thanks ahead of time for your all's feedback

  • You will have 3 barrels of T25ks that have no real purpose in the world
  • I'm not a fan of only 8 chips of the smallest denom. It's a lot of change making. Some people don't care, I do.
  • Not enough T1000s, which are going to be pulling a lot of weight mid-game. More change-making.
I don't see it as critically broken, just not tuned with precision.

I would get:

25x360 100x360 500x160 1000x400 5000x180 25000x40

If your doing a re-buy tournament skip the bounty, and consider an add-on at the end of the re-buy period

T$10000 Re-buy with T$15000 add-on for example

Most importantly

Have Fun

At first glance you need zero T25,000. 30 man game, even if you got 30 rebuys 120 T5000 covers the amount of chips in play and is only 60 chips per man even stacked when down to the final two.

In the WSOP events I played last year, the starting stacks were all 4/4/x/x/x. All we did was make change.
That is atrocious! I know casinos like to use 8/8/xxx because fewer small chips = fewer small chip pilfering, and it saves money but 4/4/xxx in a tournament that inevitably will have blinds...

There's a reason nobody runs their home games like a WSOP event.

I thought this as well. In fact, when I had my CPC customs made (also 30 player tournament max) I almost passed on the T25,000, because I knew that they wouldn't be needed. Since my T5000 was a level 9, and would only be produced in limited quantities (per David's instruction) I added on a barrel of T25ks.

In actual play, getting the 25ks in play is kind of nice though. Even though I like big piles of chips, when it gets down to the final 2-3 players, a few large chips makes stacks easier to manage when drinking has been involved.

But even then, You'd never use more than a barrel.
