Just want to point out J5 had a hand in 8 of the 14 nominees. Maybe he should get elected in his own special "contributors" category like the NFL does.
Actually had this conversation before. The hall of fame largely is a collection of J5s best works.

@Mr Tree OP says "Please pick four sets for the 2018 HOF"

I picked one and that was it. Is there a way to vote for more than one set?
You have to put a vote for all four sets at once. You click next to four and then submit. You aren’t allowed to change so you may want to reach out to Tommy to have him help you put your vote back in correctly.

That must have been it. Well, I already voted for the best set.
Thanks

Pick 4? Even picking just 6 or 8 would be tough. I think I will use “still posts to the forums” as a criterion, because I can’t narrow it down otherwise!

Music to my ears. Means we did or job.

While I find this amusing and "at least it's an ethos," it's a shame some of the quieter members' sets or older sets are not as appreciated as they should be. Traffic on the site is like advertising, so the newer and shinier are more appreciated, partly because they are on our screens more often. I'm a committee member and a nominee, so I must be careful with what I say...but I don't mind putting a plug in for some of the older sets, even if mine isn't one of them.

So which exactly of the newer sets that are nominated would you say are overrated?

I'm going to plug for the Paymaster set. I know a lot don't like ceramics on here, but that set is spectacular...whether it's ceramic or not. I just feel it should be getting more love than what it is. I have no dog in the fight, but I feel that set should be a shoe-in!

Here were my top 4 in order:

1. Pillage & Plunder
2. Circus City House of Cards
3. Chateau De Noix II
4. The Capital Room

gl to all the entrants!

It is currently in the top 4! How can you say it isn’t getting love?

It is in the top four, but barely. It has a SLIGHTLY better advantage now than when I posted earlier.

I’m actually pleasantly surprised by how the Paymasters are doing. There are a group who just do not like oversized inlays, and those who don’t like ceramics. So a big portion of the base are just never going to vote for them. I told others previously that I thought they might do surprisingly poorly, so to be in the top four against the caliber of competition out there makes me feel good.

I understand some of Bert’s frustration. It’s not that there aren’t newer deserving sets. It’s just that when you see absolutely fantastic older sets like Old Orchard absolutely languish you feel kind of...sad.

But the most important thing is for everyone to vote your heart! There are a lot of stunning sets here so having some disparity is not to be unexpected. The only thing I ask is don’t rush your vote based on a couple of pictures. Go research the sets. See what went into them and what they are about. Find more pictures if you can and let it marinate. Then vote for the ones that speak to you.

Wow, the four I voted for are presently in the lead. That's cool.
Paymaster. I don't love the comic-like styling, and I almost don't understand the racing theme. And of course, it's ceramic. But even though it isn't my taste in any way, it still got my vote. Because it's uniquely awesome, even if it isn't "my" awesome.

I agree. many of the older sets have some really cool backstories and such. part of the problem is that those stories lived on the blue wall, and there are many here who have never seen them. I wish we could get all of the pics and stories and post them here. I know @toad94 posted many of the pictures, but they are lacking the story; the history. Some of the sets look sort of "boring" as well, but those were the days when ASM didn't have many colors and spot patterns to choose from. While the newer sets do have a lot of flash and pep, some of those older ones are just .. well... classic.

I mean... if you wanted to win a race... right now.. which car do you drive????

Why am I always the contrarian? (Don't answer...)

All the sets are very nice, and I'm sure the committee did the best job possible. But to me, there's only one set there that 's worthy of a hall of fame, and I think it should have been in by acclamation long ago.

And there's one that drives me absofuckinglutely nuts -- a DC-inspired set called the "Capital Room", bearing the image of the "Capitol".

Just my opinion as well, but it seems that sets that have A LOT of chips seem to get more of a mention than one that is perfectly executed and only has a few chips.

But capital refers to the city, right? Is it really incorrect as is?

only asking as I have a set with a similar theme in the works

No doubt. And I hate to admit it, but size is definitely a factor I consider when voting.

but that set is based on the capital city of Austin, and the capitol building there

The use of Capitol vs Capital has always been confusing to many. Capital generally refers to a city or area or region that is important. Capitol is a building. Then again it could be referring to the Capitol but a play on words using Capital in reference to "accumulated wealth"

Again, I know what each word means. Capital Room means (to me) a room in the capital city. And the capitol building appearing on the chip makes sense since it's in the capital city.
