I recently acquired these 2 chips - the 2011 Palms Year of the Rabbit and the 2012 Palms Year of the Dragon chips. Palms had many other Chinese Zodiac chips but I think these are the only 2 chips with the theme of "Chinese lady + Chinese zodiac."

What's interesting is that if you read Chinese (I do), you will see that the characters on the rabbit chip is supposed to say “新年快乐," meaning Happy New Year. However, the last character is spelled wrong. Instead, it says “新年快兔,” and the characters now comically say "New Year Fast Rabbit."

I've asked this question to someone who knows about this, and it really appears to be just a spelling mistake. It's a mistake subtle enough not to be noticed, even by Palm's Chinese customers to whom these chips were given to. After all, it is the year of the rabbit, combined with the fact that Palms is advertising the Playboy club (playboy bunny logo) on the chip as well, so people might have all thought it was intentional.

However, there is absolutely no known usage of the phrase of “新年快兔,” "New Year Fast Rabbit."

I just thought that was an interesting discovery. I only put the dragon chip next to it for some attention.

I think the most interesting thing here is that you read Chinese... I find people who can master multiple languages fascinating.

Very cool discovery, though. I wonder who in the process made the error.
