So I'm drooling at the semi-custom High Roller Valentino chips.. Thoughts on schedule? Start stacks? Chip set breakdown?

Set would consist of T25, T100, T500, T1000, T5000, T25000.

Start stack: T25k - 250 BB.
Level length: 20 min.
Desired length of tournament (excluding breaks): 5 hours playtime.

I don't think you'll need T25k chips (although they're fun to have), you'll only need them if you're tourney is like 6 tables or more.

I'd consider starting blinds at 25/50 with 12,000 starting stacks so you get a bit more mileage from your T25 chips and you def won't need T25k.

How would you play your structure without T1000s after racing off the T500 and blinds of 3K/6K?!

This is our structure for a Single Table 25K Tournament, should suit your time frame. Ends usually around the 1000 color up.

1 50 - 100
2 75 - 150
3 100 - 200
4 150 - 300
Pause + Color up 25
5 200 - 400
6 300 - 600
7 400 - 800
8 600 - 1.200
9 800 - 1.600
10 1.200 - 2.400
11 1.500 - 3.000
Pause Color up 100 + 500
12 2.000 - 4.000
13 3.000 - 6.000
14 4.000 - 8.000
15 5.000 - 10.000
16 8.000 - 16.000
(possibly) Color up 1.000
17 10.000 - 20.000
18 15.000 - 30.000
19 20.000 - 40.000
20 30.000 - 60.000

Starting Stacks T25/T100/T500/T1000/T5000 (always more T1000 than T500): Half the players 12/12/5/11/2, other half 20/20/7/9/2. Definitely no 25.000 Chip needed.

Agreed that the T25.000 wont be used for a 1 table event. You would only have up to 50 x T5000 on the table at the end of the game, that's 25 per player when heads up. Even with rebuys, they won't need to hit the table.

...and you don't really want to bring out a T25.000 "just because you can". I have done this, and it just creates questions like "what's that", and makes a big stack look small.

Finally, the jump from BB 1200 to BB 2000 (and later 12k to 20k) is just too big. It's a 60% jump . Philia's Schedule is perfect.

I disagree with Philia's starting stacks being 2 different sizes. I don't like sitting down for a tournament and seeing a different amount of chips in someone else's stack. It just feels crooked, even if the value of the stacks are the same. Big stacks make poor to average players looser. By giving one player more T25s you are psychologically influencing how that player will play compared to other players.

Thanks guys for the very helpful tips! :)

Lol, I disagree myself with our two different startings stacks. Some like more chips to start with, some prefer less (like me) - so we let the players decide. To be honest: I never looked at it like you did. Hm, maybe time for a change...

All this is true...but still get a barrel or two of the 25k. You might have a two table event, you might want to do a deep stack, you might have a night with crazy rebuys...and honestly it’s pretty cheap to have “just in case”

Since I'm probably going to end up buying semi-custom chips (and the shipping cost is insane), I'd rather buy a few more and have the potential of a 2 table tournament in the future, than saving a few bucks..

Sure, I do the same.

In fact, that is why my T5000 is a CPC level 9 spot pattern, but the T25,000 is a level 4. It's not going to hit the table, except in extreme cases, so I wasn't going to spend a bunch of money on a chip that usually sits in the box.

Of course, the "spot progression" fan club hates the set because of that (one member even said as much), but not all of us want to spend top dollar for a "just in case" chip.
