Welcome! As a noob you'll see alot of people recommend buying samples of everything before you purchase a set. This is the best way to formally get a feel for what you like. Also, take some time to plan a break down for your set, so when the time comes to place you order or pick your set, it will be a breeze and you wont end up short or having excessive of a certain denom.

Cheers! Brie

Thanks so much for your advice! Could you give me a guide as to how much a micro-cash/cash set of Paulson WTHC (or similar) of approximately 500 chips would cost at the market rate? And what's the best way to acquire one. Thank you!

Hello and welcome!

Keep your eyes and ears open. There are a number of other Singaporeans on active membership here, you might want to give them a friendly message, especially if they've got samples of various chip types that you can see and touch.

As far as the rest, decide what type of game you want the chips for (cash vs. tourney), the number of players you want to buy for and how much total cash stakes or tournament duration (helps you define total chips needed and breakdown), and then set a budget on a cost/chip basis, then you will have clearer options.

Hate to burst your bubble this early, but this may be an impossible quest in one aspect, and an almost impossible quest in another.
Lowest denomination I've ever seen in a WTHC is a 0.25, so no 0.05 was ever made for micro-cash. You will have to make your own.
Market rate for 500 chips of WTHC for denominations that you can get are probably close to $2000+, and it will be very difficult to get in one go. Especially in cash denonminations since I hardly ever see the 0.25 and 1 come up in pictures, never mind for sale ads. Likely you'd be buying from another member here, and you've got a lot of competition to collect.

Take your time and learn about different types of chip materials, casino vs. fantasy vs. custom, and the different manufacturers. Obtain or arrange to encounter various chips types so you can handle them.

Hard to quote a price with the market right now, micro cash denoms are tough to find in quantity pending what you desire in your chips, basic cash denoms are a bit easier to find, but you'll be looking to spend around $2k to $3k, especially for something like WTHC. Those in particular dont come up too often. I would suggest posting a wanted ad (with a general spending budget), and seeing what offers are sent your way. That's likely the best place to start. Of course, you never know what may pop up for sale in the classifieds, so check through the sale ads reguarly.

Hi,

I am new to PCF and I'm from Singapore. Currently on a low budget/not looking to buy yet but looking forward saving up and having my own set in the future! Do give me any advice as a newbie and I would love if you have any good deals for me.

Thanks!
Welcome! SG, one of my favorite countries to visit. As you can see, there is countless advice on here. I am fairly new myself, only being here for a year, and was also "on a low budget/not looking to buy yet". Give it a couple of weeks and you'll soon realize you're out a couple of thousand dollars, oiling some newly scored THCs, while waiting for the next CPC order to arrive.

Sadly I do not have a stable income yet as I am a University student and I only make a hundred a week working part-time. My budget is a couple of hundred dollars for now currently but I'm excited to blow thousands of dollars on poker chips in the future :D

Hi there and welcome @PokerDots! Fantastic to see the Singapore contingent still growing. It's unfortunate timing that u joined the forum just a couple weeks after this mini-meetup:

Before you drop any hard-earned cash, I would encourage u to reach out to some of the PCFers in SG. These guys have a wealth of knowledge & really awesome chips in their collections. I hope u r able to meet them down the road, experience their chips up close in person like I did, and perhaps that can help guide u in your search for a perfect set.
Work hard n keep saving if your ultimate goal are Paulson WTHCs.

Dead thread but time to revive it with my new cash set :) Waiting for Gear labels over the PCA fracs!

Gave up on the WTHC dream for now sadly maybe many years down the road I will bring it back. Current budget only allows for used casino chips and that’s okay!

So ...... budget is a problem and you are looking for micro stakes? There are a lot of us in that same boat buddy (ME TOO), and most of us tend to go with ceramics. https://www.pokerchipforum.com/threads/gene-kristil-micro-stakes-magic.53333/#post-1014678 this is my set.

Nice ceramic set!! They look really great :) I prefer the feel and look of clay Paulsons and I have the budget to put together a used set now. Don’t think I would get a ceramics set unless its a custom. Enjoy your new chips!

Please DON'T relabel the PCA fracs. LEADED fracs with textured shaped inlays shall not be relabeled sir! Not necessary imo
I dont have the expertise for chip murder, purely sticking a non-laminated label over only
