Hey all,

Fantastic site. I've loved looking through all of the chip pr0n and tabke ideas. I've followed the advice os samples, samples, samples and my wife thinks I'm nuts already.

I played a lot of poker in college, have consistently watched the game, but fell off playing after kids and moving away from casinos. Currently in NC and in the process of building a new house. Should be ready in the spring and I am running g through all of the potential plans for table(s?) to play some family games and hopefully host a regular cash game.

And then we would obviously 'need' custom sets to complete the feel, custom table..... Haha- I'm seeing the problem already. Read through like 60 pages of the custom group buy thread already- someone please send help...

Just curious , are there things you like more about the BJ compared to paulsons and vice versa ?

Sorry- by caption I meant there was a massive difference from the china's. But yes- also a huge difference from Paulson and Bud Jones.

Would have to agree with majority of the forum that if I had to pick just one I would go Paulson. They just feel...right. Not too slippery, colors are good, unique classic sound, and almost felt denser if that makes sense.
With that being said, I am surprised at how much I love the Bud Jones too. I know they get a lot of hate, so I may have been influenced by that, but I really do like them a lot. I am a huge fan of the bright colors, especially the green and orange, and the 'vacuum effect' as people call it is actually real and very pleasant. As a side bonus my wife finds the sound of chips irritating (? I know..) but these are very muted as well so could be a good situational set.

The Paulsons you have there are the thinner rim RHC. You should also probably try some Paulson THC molds - you know... for science.
Ahh- good to know. Thank you. I didn't realize that, so yeah I will be on the lookout for a sample of those as well

Welcome! Off to a great start I see! There's quite a few threads here dedicated to table builds, along with a few folks who offer custom tables and/or custom felts. To follow suit with chips theres several vendors here who offer affordable options (and less wallet friendly options, but clay chips) for custom designs.
If you've read through the china cards mold buy that's all good start, and relatively decent option given the pricing. The chips are actually nice given they're price. @SUN-FLY Poker Chips and @ABC Gifts and Awards / @BR Pro Poker offer options for ceramic/hybrid custom designs as well.

Welcome! I started last year and was in the same boat as you....good luck!

Samples...tables...chips...

Yep..I followed the same path to chipping glory (the glory is defined differently by all the different members)

Watch out for your wallet! You made the best first move possible, got samples. You won't regret buying them, they'll easily be resold, and if not, then they make great collection pieces.

Welcome aboard!
