New Casinos / New Chips Thread (5 Viewers)

So, I was assuming a tribal casino but it looks like it's owned and/or run by the state lottery commission? That's a new one on me. How did they get that to go through?

Do they have a poker room?
Yes, there are 4 properties (I believe) in KS which are operated by the KS Lottery. As I understand it, there shall be no more licenses granted.

Yes there is a poker room.

Cool, what are you dealing, poker or pit game? My kids have moved down from KC to NWA. I'm up that way on occasion (except lately dealing with these freaking disc problems). Really like those 618 $1's.

Are you sure?
I get more and more angry with every new casino set I see. I think I'd rather some cool looking chipcos
Chipcos are fine...for awhile. They age terribly.

Boston Billiard Club, been open about a year now, never been as there are closer options but I do follow their page on Facebook for any promotions maybe worth traveling. Apparently their tourney chips are hot stamped Paulsons

So I'm guessed that minimum Paulson order is lesser than we think since this is a small room, I believe the tourney part only has about 12 tables

@TheBigTater no there isn't a poker room. I must've been drunk when I replied to your question.

Whoa, is that the successor to the old Boston Billiards, that used to be on Brookline, just south of Fenway?

I used to do a lot of shooting there -- still have a t-shirt from the old place, and it's basically the same logo.

Between that place, Boston Beer Works, and Jillians, I used to spend a lot of time in that neighborhood. Good memories!

It's not that one - it's a Boston Billiards chain property in Nashua, NH. Chips are composite plastic-type chips I think. I have a stack downstairs, will take some pics.

This place just opened about six weeks ago. My budget for gambol has been fairly nonexistent lately, but it's close to Portland for all of the Oregon/SW Washington folks. It looks to be bigger and fancier than the small card rooms I remember in La Center.

Their chips look like this. It appears to be a custom mold - there are some singles listed on eBay that show more detail than this press photo screen capture.

Is that the weird like crossed sticks or swords house mold? Look like cool colors, wasn't sure they were Paulsons, but the spots and colors definitely look like it now.

Just found the eBay listings - none are still active, but there are a few completed listings that still show up.

The mold design appears to be a canoe and oar. (completed listing here)

Those mold markings go almost to the very edge of the chip.......

They definitely didn't skimp on the chips... custom Paulson mold, oversize 43mm $1000 and $5000 chips, and likely a bunch of expensive security features on the $100s and up. Kudos.

Not crazy about the inlay background colors, though. Color-matching to a spot color usually doesn't work very well in practice.

Security features? Is that so that you don't walk out with the chips?

No, it's more geared so that you don't walk IN with (counterfeit) chips without them being able to detect them.

2 sided chips as well. I feel as if they consulted a PCF'er before getting chips made.

Unfortunately, as BG noted that canoe is awfully close to the edge. May as well call in the hungry fleas. :(

Since I have a bunch of these in hand (it's just up the road from where I live), I can say it's definitely meant to be a feather and oar on the custom house mold. It actually does look nice for a custom mold. Impression doesn't go too deep, so maybe they won't get too badly flea bit after moderate use.
