Hey everyone, haven't posted in a while. I'm finally almost done building my Casino Royale chip set but I have never played or hosted a poker tournament before (only cash games). My set consists of:
5k chips - 200 (though I likely won't use them)
25k chips - 200
100k chips - 200
500k plaques - 20 (plan to top that off to 30)
1M plaques - 10

I had planned on a starting stack of 5M:
20 -25k chips
20 - 100k chips
3 - 500k plaques
1 - 1M plaque

I know this is a lot of chips for a starting stack but I kind of wanted to model things after the movie Casino Royale and so what I've done is essentially halved the movie starting stacks from 10M (over 100 chips and plaques per player) to 5M (44 chips and plaques per player, removing the 5k chips). My group would be 6-9 players so even though I will have a lot of chips in play I imagine coloring up with a smaller group shouldn't be too bad.

Would love any advice on blind structure or if anyone thinks I should change my starting stacks, please feel free to let me know. Also my group doesn't mind a longer game.

I think 20/20/3/1 is fine for 9 players. You just won’t be able to have any rebuys or color up past 100k. The 4.5 mil in 25k chips can become the leftover 20x100k, 3x500k and 1x1mil. That means leaving all the 100k in play even when they aren’t being used. Picking up another 20 1mil plaques would solve that and also open up this set to bring perfect for up to 20 players using the 5k chips.

As for blinds it depends how long you want to play. A 4 hour structure could look something like this: 20 minute levels - 25/50, 50/100, 75/150, 100/200, 150/300, 200/400, break and color up 25k, 300/600, 400/800, 500/1mil, 700/1.4, 1/2, 1.5/3.

There’s room in there to add levels too for a longer game. Or increase level time.
