Anyone who thinks Jim is willfully or in some other fashion trying to piss off his largest Customer base is delusional. Anyone who thinks he should make life tougher on himself than he needs to in order to move his merchandise is delusional.
From a brief skimming of this thread it sounds like a couple of purchasers found a way to "game" the system, or at the least the "spirit" of the system that Jim put in place to spread out the availability of these chips to as many purchasers as possible. It also sounds like their methods were discussed in this thread prior to the sale beginning.

You folks have one option to resolve your butt-hurt. That is to boycott future sales if you do not like Jim's methods of selling his wares.

What you cannot do, if you are fair minded, is hold Jim responsible for the actions of others. Nor can you dictate how he sells his merchandise. No one is FORCING you to buy his products. Stop whining.
I don't think a single person has said a negative word about Jim. The topic has finally been dead for a few days... let it die, no reason to kick-start it.

I did not order a sample set, so I had to clean some chips and make my own.

Also I cleaned up my fifty centers.

For some reason, my last post was moderated (deleted), so I will post it again. I think there is value in exploring the topic given that Jim may well put all of the remaining sets on eBay (based on an email convo I had with him) and may do this for all future sets (my speculation).

Who was the idiot who gamed the system with the $500s and possibly ruined it for the rest of us?

Jim said it was two buyers and they have so far remained anonymous. He also said that while it violated the spirit of the sale, it didn’t violate the rules as stated so he let it ride. Probably not worth a witchhunt at this point.

Pics don't do the $25s justice, they are stunning in person. Blaze orange on those spots it seems.

It was one heck of a run while it lasted. GL everybody.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he continues to bring us the casino used chips and uses eBay for the new stuff. As educated buyers we understand when we get a mix of beat to hell and nearly new chips in the same purchase. I think civilians on eBay could pose a return nightmare for him. The 50 cent on the NL primaries is a perfect example.

His current auction don't allow for returns and wouldn't think he'd change that for used chips.

Don’t be so maudlin. Jim’s marketing THESE chips this way. He may market different chips differently in the future for any number of reasons. Let’s sll sit back and see what happens.

With 3162 feedbacks at 100% positive I think he's got that gig figured out.

After all the controversy and the headache, his move is understandable. But I am wondering why he couldn’t just list them in auction format in PCF Classifieds. They would still sell at the right price and he doesn’t have to pay the 15% to eBay/PayPal.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's fed up with people flipping here and other assorted bullshit and goes to eBay where he can make a killing with smaller sets and only brings us the huge massive sets (and of those, only the lower demons toon, more common, chips).

I think whoever used the loophole should be called out as it hurts the availability of chips for the community. This is the first time I can remember where Jim sent a new set to eBay. This is potentially a big deal for chippers and we have to self police or we're out in the cold.

Because he's fed up with our bullshit from a select few selfish members.

I'm getting worn out of pulling out my pitchfork and putting it away..

I think you answered your own question. Having followed this thread, if I was a chip vendor, I'd gladly pay the 15% fee to not have to deal with 20 pages of opinions and "Its not fairs"

Edit: 19 pages.

I'm sure he doesn't sit here and paw through the forums, but I'm also suspecting that some people wrote him someone upset about the availability of the $500s and maybe even cancelled orders, adding to his overhead.

I don't understand. A lot of the same people here were on Chiptalk, but the community as a whole here seem more selfish and loves to shoot their golden goose. Sad, really.

I’m sure he’s fed up with the flipping and probably with our bullshit too. But I really don’t think we should be demonizing the two “loophole” buyers who snagged the bulk of the $500’s. Maybe they’re the straw that broke the camel’s back, or maybe they just brought to light the flaws inherent in the PayPal checkout system that Jim was using. But let’s remember that their strategy was openly discussed here prior to the sale (without any condemnation from anybody) and that their strategy was tacitly endorsed by the way orders were fulfilled in past chiproom sales.

If I had the budget to buy 1000-2000 of the NL, I saw nothing in the lead up discussion to the sale that would have stopped me or prevented me or even made me feel bad about buying the rare chips in one order first then getting the rest a few minutes later. The strategy was hinted at and nobody batted an eyelash.

The two problems are that there were so few $500 chips and the limits on them were too high. If there were 2000 of the five-hundos, and the limit was 100 per buyer, this conversation wouldn't even have started.

I think auctions run in Jim's forum here might get a little less money, but the lack of a 10+% seller eBay fee would make up for it. I wish Jim would have done that, but eBay is also a wise choice.

Jim has told us there are no 25c or $500 chips available, but he has not advertised how many Tonkawa chips there are. Somebody trying to put together a set does not know which auction will be the last, so I think we are going to see some solid prices.

Bergs, the "loophole" you speak of has been used by many members in the past (sale starts at 10am, posts show up at 10:02 stating "In-and-out! Got my thousands, got my $500s, got the rest, three orders please combine shipping thanks!") and no one ever had an issue. The only reason it became an issue here is because of a VERY limited supply and complainers piling on. If so many butthurt members didn't jump in the pool it's perfectly plausible that everything would have been fine.

Two people got the $500s. "Loophole" or not they were going to be gone in under ten seconds flat regardless and it's highly likely they all would have been scooped up between two people anyways.

We've now seen what can happen when members join forces in a common complaint... if you're not happy with the current result of those bickerings, I'm trying to understand why some of you seem to think continuing it will make anything better rather than worse?
