So I've been a member since 2016.
My head just exploded a minute ago.
For almost a decade, I thought I was shuffling Paulson THCs at my own homegame.
They in fact are RHC. (Horseshoe Cincinnati)

I still love them to death, but man there are some real RHC haters out there after reading some older posts 😂.

Same clay you say? So they must feel very similar when shuffling and handling?

Definitely the same composition of clay and whatever else they put in them chips.

However, while I’m no hater, I own RHCs as well, but they do get flea bitten like in the first time you even felt them. I’ve felted mint RHCs, and they get flea bitten with ease. I find the outer edges are weak, and the Hat/Cane are very close to the edge. That’s where they can be weak. At least in my experience.

THCs on the other hand, from my own experience, don’t do this. I’ve got multiple sets I bought as mint and I’ve felted them multiple times, and still no flea bites to talk of.

I love Paulsons. RHC THC, all good. THC is superior. That much I’ve gathered for myself. YMMV

Thank you for the very detailed explanation. After closer inspection on my cincis, there ARE a lot of flea bites. They were mint before felted as well.

So in conclusion, THC are for casual games and RHC are only for very special events/games.

Ooof haters, that's gotta hurt. 🤣🤣

I’m a big time hater. But I do think that mint and very near mint RHCs feel cool.

No, they don’t feel similar when handling and shuffling. That’s kinda the whole thing about clay poker chip molds - they might have as much impact on the feel of the chip as the composition of the clay.

lol I did something similar…I used my Horseshoe Cleveland’s for years before I realized the $1’s were a different mold than the rest! lol

I wouldn't call it hate, more of preference. Both are beautiful and most importantly in play they work so well and you will barely notice.

Wait until you get to the leaded vs unleaded discussions... lol

Oiling new RHC chips really helps them avoid flea bites. And leaded RHC chips hold up surprisingly well

The flea bite fear is overblown for home game play. I have many RHC sets that have broken in nicely from mint and there are very few fleabites.

Sure, leaded THC feel great, but there are a lot of nice RHC sets with great colours and you can't beat affordability.

If you read enough posts by @upNdown you'll soon learn that his opinion shouldn't carry much weight (read them for the entertainment value, my god, he likes those drab Dunes chips).
